Exploring the Life and Career of Taylor Dearden Cranston: Bryan Cranston’s Talented Daughter

Bryan Cranston and Robin Dearden’s daughter, Taylor Dearden Cranston, is following in her parents’ acting footsteps.

The couple met while filming a TV show and tied the knot on July 8, 1989. Four years later, they welcomed Taylor on February 12, 1993.

Professionally known as Taylor Dearden, she quickly entered the same industry as her parents, securing roles alongside her father as well as in her own right. Most recently, she portrayed Dr. Melissa King in Max’s The Pitt, which wrapped up its first season in April 2025.

Bryan has remarked that despite his celebrity status and Robin’s industry experience, Taylor achieved success independently. “She’s very independent and very conscientious of not having any association or hint thereof of nepotism,” he told British GQ in 2023.

Despite their busy acting careers, Bryan shared that the family had the chance to slow down and spend time together during the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing him to reflect on his pride in Taylor. “She is far beyond where I was in my 20s as far as ability,” the Argylle star said. “She is a super talented young lady.”

Here’s everything you need to know about Bryan Cranston’s daughter, Taylor Dearden Cranston.

She graduated from the University of Southern California

In 2015, Taylor graduated from the University of Southern California with a degree in theater. While in school, she acted in the comedy web series 101 Ways to Get Rejected.

Outside of her acting pursuits, Taylor actively engaged in various campus activities. “My college experience was actually amazing,” she shared in 2016. “I was GDI, which in Greek life stands for God Damn Independent, so I didn’t belong to a sorority.”

Taylor continued, “All of my friends were in sororities, and some of my guy friends were in frats. I did rush, not because I wanted to join but because I wanted to see it and experience that … [it was] nothing but nice.”

She’s an actress

After graduating from USC, Taylor appeared on the MTV series Sweet/Vicious, portraying the character Ophelia. She also starred in American Vandal and For All Mankind.

In 2023, she was featured in the Apple TV+ series The Last Thing He Told Me alongside Jennifer Garner. She made her debut in Max’s medical series The Pitt in 2025, which has already been renewed for a second season.

She acted alongside her dad in Breaking Bad

In 2010, Taylor made a guest appearance in an episode of Breaking Bad alongside her father, playing a student at the high school where Bryan’s character, Walter White, taught.

Although this was her only appearance in the series, Taylor inspired a memorable moment in Bryan’s performance during a pivotal scene. In November 2015, he recounted on Inside the Actors Studio how her presence helped him evoke genuine emotion during a scene where he watched Krysten Ritter’s character, Jane, succumb to an overdose.

“[White] hears [Jane] start to cough and he goes to her because that’s human instinct,” Bryan explained. “Before he gets to her he stops and thinks, ‘Wait a minute — she’s a junkie. She’s got Jesse on heroin; she’ll kill him. It’s better if I don’t do anything. But she’s a little girl — she’s young enough to be my daughter.'”

Bryan revealed that the thought of Taylor came to mind while filming, which moved him to tears. “Then I see the face of my own daughter in her place, and I didn’t want to; I didn’t plan on it,” he added.

She’s passionate about women’s rights

Taylor starred in MTV’s Sweet/Vicious, a show centered around two friends seeking justice after a campus sexual assault. The series had a profound impact on her, and she expressed gratitude for being part of its significant message.

“It’s a show about women written by women, and you can tell it’s from a place of knowledge and sympathy and empathy and excitement, or the fight to do the right thing,” she shared. “We only hope that survivors see this as a positive message of, ‘We’re willing to fight for you.'”

She celebrates her dad’s accomplishments

One of Taylor’s first red carpet experiences was at the Breaking Bad season 2 premiere in 2009, accompanied by her parents. In subsequent years, she attended the Primetime Emmys with them in 2010 and the Screen Actors Guild Awards in 2012.

The following year, Taylor commemorated her father’s induction into the Hollywood Walk of Fame with a photo opportunity, kissing him on the cheek in celebration.

Most recently, in December 2023, the father-daughter duo attended a Los Angeles Rams game together.

She’s a photographer

When not on set, Taylor channels her creativity into photography. She maintains an Instagram account dedicated to her work called Taylor Dearden Photography.

Her artistic endeavors include capturing images on 35mm film, featuring her mother Robin, picturesque snowy landscapes, beaches, and much more.

She’s donated her hair several times

In June 2023, Taylor shared a video on Instagram showcasing her decision to cut off a significant portion of her hair for donation.

In the clip, she documented the hairdresser chopping off her long ponytails. “If you can, donate your hair! This is either donation #4 or 5 for me,” she wrote in the video.
