1923’s Brian Geraghty Reveals What ‘Bigger Than Life’ Costar Harrison Ford Is Really Like on Set (Exclusive)

Geraghty noted how Helen Mirren, 79, “made it so easy for us” to get over the nerves of filming with the acclaimed stars.

Mirren, who plays matriarch Cara Dutton, recently told PEOPLE how her costars act around Ford, 82.

“Harrison is such a bloke. He’s what in England we call a bloke. He is a guy, and because he’s a bloke, all the other blokes absolutely love him, and quite rightfully,” Mirren shared in February.

“He’s always so lovely to all the other actors,” Mirren continued. “And so we do all sit in the freezing cold on set, on funny, funky, little uncomfortable chairs, and the other guys just gather around Harrison because they just want to be in his company.”

Asked whether he’s comfortable asking Ford questions about his past roles, Geraghty said it depends on the situation.

“If it’s an earnest question — if it’s like we’re having a good time and we’re feeling like we can converse,” he says. “But I do feel like approaching anybody about their iconic roles, I even get annoyed if somebody knows me from something I did 10 years ago. I’m trying to do other things.”

Geraghty continues: “It’s like you’re really trying to get outside of that and do other work that’s just as important as that. You know what I mean? As the actor, you’re like, is that what I am? So I go, I try to stay away from all the iconic roles and try to never approach that subject with them and just talk about things that are relevant, because I think acting is all about trust, and once you start doing stuff like that, I feel like you’re prying a little bit and it’s like, it might be a little uncomfortable, but we had really good rapport.”

“I was lucky because almost 80% of my time is with him, and so he makes me laugh,” Geraghty concludes about his time on set with Ford.

Season 2 premiere of 1923 is now streaming on Paramount+.
