2025 Emmy Predictions via Feinberg Forecast: Scott’s Latest Picks

A note from Scott: With the June 12 start of Primetime Emmy nominations voting less than three weeks away, it’s no coincidence that we are in the midst of a lot of Emmys-related activity.
On the tube, Emmys-eligible seasons came to an end in recent days for NBC’s SNL (May 17), Apple TV+’s The Studio (May 21) and HBO/HBO Max’s The Last of Us (May 25). Netflix released its limited series Sirens in its entirety on May 22. And new comedy specials dropped from stand-up heavyweights Sarah Silverman (Netflix’s PostMortem) on May 20, Jerrod Carmichael (HBO/HBO Max’s Don’t Be Gay) on May 24 and Mike Birbiglia (Netflix’s The Good Life) on May 26.
The action will continue this week as we bid adieu to Emmys-eligible seasons of HBO Max’s Hacks (May 29), HBO/HBO Max’s 100 Foot Wave (May 29) and Apple TV+’s Your Friends & Neighbors (May 30). Debuting just ahead of the May 31 eligibility cutoff will be Apple TV+’s pre-recorded variety special Bono: Stories of Surrender, direct from the Cannes Film Festival, on May 30, and HBO/HBO Max’s TV movie Mountainhead, which was written and directed by Succession’s Jesse Armstrong, on May 31.
Speaking of Cannes, an unusually large number of Emmy contenders were spotted along the Croisette, including vets Robert De Niro of Netflix’s Zero Day and Sissy Spacek of FX’s Dying for Sex (who joined me to record a live episode of my Awards Chatter podcast in the Palais) and breakouts Marco Calvani of Netflix’s The Four Seasons and Tramell Tillman of Apple TV+’s Severance. Also, while at the fest, I broke the news that Prime Video’s The Narrow Road to the Deep North, an acclaimed Australian limited series starring Jacob Elordi, has, at the last minute, entered the race.
Ahead of noms voting, we’ll be sharing some exciting new episodes of the aforementioned Awards Chatter pod. On June 2, we’ll post a conversation with Sean Evans, the host of YouTube’s Hot Ones, who spoke with me and the students enrolled in my Chapman University course “The Art of the Interview,” an art that he practices beautifully. (Indeed, his show might well displace one of the traditional late-night shows from the best talk series category in which it became eligible only last year.)
Additionally, you can join me at the inaugural Newport Beach TV Fest for any/all of three live recordings of the pod with A-list contenders: Kate Hudson of Netflix’s Running Point on June 5, Adam Brody of Netflix’s Nobody Wants This (6/6) and Sam Rockwell of HBO/HBO Max’s The White Lotus (6/8). Seating is limited, so get your tickets now!
Remember: You can bookmark this page and return to it for Scott’s latest picks. Excepting holidays and breaking news events, it will be updated on Mondays. Think of Scott like a meteorologist: his aim is to forecast what will happen, not to advocate for what he thinks should happen. His projections are arrived at by screening shows, analyzing campaigns, consulting voters and referencing history.
