7th Heaven’s David Gallagher Surprises Fans with News He Quietly Welcomed Baby No. 2: ‘I Didn’t Know You Didn’t Know’

Surprise — David Gallagher is a dad of two!
On Sunday, March 30, the 7th Heaven alum, 40, shared on Instagram that he quietly welcomed a second baby girl in December. In the post, Gallagher showed himself in full “papa mode,” as he carried several bags and his 3-month-old daughter, who was resting in her stroller, up the stairs. Next to him, his older daughter Lily can be seen walking up the steps.
Without thinking anything of it, the proud dad of two captioned the photo, “When your Dad doesn’t want to wait for the elevator… #papamode.” However, many of his followers went to the comments to ask about his new bundle of joy and congratulate him.
“This is the best way to hard launch a second kid I’ve seen so far. Congratulations,” one user wrote. Another user shared similar sentiments, asking, “Aww there’s a new addition?? Congratulations and happy belated birthday Baby❤️.”
A few hours later, the girl dad confirmed that he welcomed another little one last year. The Catching Up with the Camdens podcast co-host shared an adorable selfie of himself with his daughter Fern sitting on the couch.
The new addition to his family can be seen smiling as she leaned back on her dad, wearing a green onesie.
“I didn’t know you didn’t know! Here’s a recent picture of me and my baby girl Fern,” Gallagher wrote in the caption. “She was born in December. #girldad #papamode.”
Being a girl dad is not the only thing that Gallagher has been keeping himself busy with.
In April 2024, Gallagher, Beverley Mitchell and Mackenzie Rosman announced they would be starting a rewatch podcast. Sharing the news exclusively with PEOPLE , the trio said in a press release that they were reuniting to provide fans a look into the “magic” behind the hit ’90s family drama series 17 years after its final episode.
“It’s been over a decade since I’ve revisited my life on the show,” Gallagher wrote in the statement exclusively shared with PEOPLE. “The best part about doing it this way is that it gives us all a reason to reconnect with each other. It feels great to spend time with the family again.”
