A+E Studios Names Chris Sanagustin Head of Current Programming

A+E Studios has hired Chris Sanagustin as its head of current programming. Sanagustin, who exits as president of Pine Tree Entertainment for the role, will report to Tana Jamieson, co-head and executive vp creative affairs. The two worked together on A&E series Bates Motel.
“Chris is an exceptional creative leader whom I’ve had the pleasure of collaborating when I was on the network side so this is a full circle moment to have her join us now at the studio,” Jamieson said in a statement. “Her track record, global experience and instinct for championing bold storytellers makes her a tremendous addition to our team.”
Sanagustin will oversee the scripted projects for the indie studio, including his Netflix series The Lincoln Lawyer and the untitled Lars Kepler Project. At Pine Tree, Sanagustin developed and sold projects to Apple TV+, CBS, Hulu, NBC/Peacock, Netflix and TBS. The slate spanned adult animation, multi-cam comedies, sci-fi mysteries and musical dramedies.
There was a time when Sanagustin was head of Brazilian original content at Netflix; Brazil is the streamer’s largest market outside of the U.S. Prior to that, Sanagustin served as executive vp current programming at Universal Television. That’s where she worked on Bates Motel, as well as Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Good Girls, Will & Grace, Superstore, The Good Place, The Mindy Project, Master of None and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Her earlier roles include senior creative positions at Universal Cable Productions, Syfy and The WB Television Network.
Sanagustin is a graduate of Johns Hopkins University.
