‘Alert: Missing Persons Unit,’ ‘The Cleaning Lady’ Canceled at Fox

Fox has canceled its drama series Alert: Missing Persons Unit and The Cleaning Lady.

The decision comes shortly after the two shows wrapped their 2024-25 seasons: Alert aired its last episode on May 27, and The Cleaning Lady finished up on June 3. They end their runs on Fox after three and four seasons.

The cancellations are not a big surprise, as Alert and The Cleaning Lady were at the lower end of Fox’s ratings for the season. In seven-day linear ratings (not including streaming), Alert averaged 2.16 million viewers and The Cleaning Lady, 1.68 million, well below the totals for renewed dramas Doc (4.6 million) and Murder in a Small Town (3.15 million). Fox also canceled first-year drama Rescue: Hi-Surf in May.

With the cancellations, Fox has just two shows still awaiting word on their futures. Animated series The Great North is running through the summer, and the network probably won’t make a decision for a while. As for the anthology drama Accused, Fox Television Network president Michael Thorn said at May’s upfronts that “there’s no plan” for the show to return, but he left the door open for another season. “We love the show and [showrunner Howard Gordon],” Thorn said. “If there’s an opportunity down the line to eventize a return, something that can really work for us and Howard, we’d love to do it.”

Fox has ordered two new hour-long series for the 2025-26 season: Best Medicine, an adaptation of the British hit Doc Martin starring Josh Charles, and Memory of a Killer, a drama starring Patrick Dempsey. The network has also ordered a limited series called The Faithful.

Alert: Missing Persons Unit comes from Sony Pictures TV and Fox Entertainment. Scott Caan heads the cast. John Eisendrath and Jamie Foxx created the show and executive produced with showrunner Carla Kettner, Jon Cowan, Brandon Sonnier, Brandon Margolis, Sean Hennen, Datari Turner and Brad Turner.

The Cleaning Lady stars Elodie Yung. The Warner Bros. TV/Fox production is executive produced by showrunner Daniel Cerone, Timothy Busfield, Eddie Serrano and Rose Marie Vega.
