Andrew Tate and Brother Tristan Charged With 21 U.K. Crimes, Including Rape and Human Trafficking

Andrew Tate and his brother, Tristan, have been charged with 21 crimes in the U.K., including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking, prosecutors have said.

Britain’s Crown Prosecution Service authorized the charges against the siblings ahead of an extradition warrant issued last year to bring them back from Romania, where they face separate charges, BBC News reported.

The CPS decision came after it received a file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police about allegations made in the U.K.

The Tates were born in the U.S. but moved to the U.K. as children. They deny the charges brought against them. Andrew Tate, 38, is a former kickboxer-turned-social media personality whose content was geared towards extreme misogyny. The YouTuber first rose to fame on the U.K. reality show Big Brother in 2016, but he was removed from the house six days after footage emerged of him appearing to attack a woman.

Now, with millions of followers across his social media accounts, Tate has said, among other things, that women are a man’s property and that rape victims “bear the responsibility” of their attacks and has regularly discussed hitting and choking women.

He faces 10 charges connected to three alleged victims, including rape, actual bodily harm, human trafficking and controlling prostitution for gain.

His younger brother, Tristan Tate, 36, faces 11 charges connected to one alleged victim, including rape, actual bodily harm and human trafficking, the BBC also said.
