Anna Kendrick ‘Couldn’t Picture’ Who Rebel Wilson Would End Up with Until She Met Her Wife Ramona Agruma (Exclusive)

Rebel Wilson and her wife Ramona Agruma were made for each other, Anna Kendrick says. 

“It’s very punk rock that you have a wife,” Kendrick, 39, tells her Pitch Perfect costar in conversation with PEOPLE on the set of their commercials for Splash Refresher. “But then I’m like, ‘You’re a wife. What the f—?’”

“Yeah, I know, it’s crazy,” agrees Wilson, 45. “My life has definitely changed a lot in the last three years. It just went [in] a totally different direction, which I feel very grateful for. I’m very lucky.”

Wilson tied the knot with Agruma, the founder of a sustainable clothing brand, last September after getting engaged in 2023. The couple, who together are raising Wilson’s daughter Royce Lillian, first went public with their romance in June 2022.

Kendrick met Agruma a couple years ago at a birthday party of Wilson’s, she tells PEOPLE. “It was so beautiful. That’s when we all fell in love with her.” (“We all” includes much of the cast of the Pitch Perfect trilogy, who have remained close since those films’ breakout success.)

“Honestly, Rebel’s the most unique person that I know and I couldn’t really picture who she was going to end up with,” continues The Woman of the Hour filmmaker. “And then we all met Ramona and I swear to God, it was like, ‘Oh, my God. There’s another one. There’s a second one that’s walking the earth.’”

She adds, “And they found each other. It’s so right.”

Wilson grins in response. “I think she really likes you too.” Kendrick quips, “Oh, thank goodness.”

Kendrick, who says she jumped at the chance to reunite with Wilson to advertise Splash Refresher’s new sparkling variety of flavored waters, also has plans to join The Deb director and her new family on alpine vacations. 

“Do you want to hold my hand when we go down the slope?” Wilson teases her friend. “I want to get on your back,” jokes Kendrick. 

Wilson stars in this year’s Juliet & Romeo (in theaters May 9) and Bride Hard (in theaters June 20). Kendrick costars with Blake Lively in Paul Feig’s Another Simple Favor (on Prime Video May 1), the sequel to 2018’s A Simple Favor.
