Ariana Grande’s Dating History: From Pete Davidson to Ethan Slater
Ariana Grande has dated big names from Big Sean to Pete Davidson to Mac Miller.
While the “Just Like Magic” singer may have a high-profile dating history, she married the lesser-known luxury real estate broker Dalton Gomez in May 2021. However, the pair separated in early 2023, with the news of their split breaking two months after she posted a tribute to them on their second wedding anniversary.
A few days later, PEOPLE confirmed that Grande is dating Broadway alum Ethan Slater, her costar in the film adaptation of Wicked. The couple were still going strong when the movie hit theaters in November 2024.
Ahead of the movie’s release, Slater told GQ he was “really, really proud of Ari” for her work on Wicked.
“She’s poured herself into it,” he said. “I’m really proud that I got to be there for that part of it, and I’m really excited to be there for this next step of it when the world gets to see the amazing thing that she did.”
Prior to her divorce from Gomez, Grande was engaged to comedian Davidson, though the two split a month after the death of rapper Miller, Grande’s ex.
From her early relationships to her relationship with Slater, here’s a look back at Ariana Grande’s dating history.

Ethan Slater
In July 2023, sources confirmed to PEOPLE that Grande is dating her Wicked costar, Ethan Slater. Grande was cast to play Glinda in the film and Slater landed the role of Boq, the love interest of Elphaba’s sister Nessarose.
“Ariana and Dalton separated in January,” a source explained. “She and Ethan recently began dating, and he is separated from his wife.”
Slater reportedly filed for divorce from his wife, Lilly Jay, following news of his new romance with Grande. Their divorce was finalized in September 2024.
The day after Slater filed for divorce, Jay spoke to Page Six about the pop star. “[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage,” she said. “The story is her and Dalton.”
In the months after news of their relationship broke, Grande and Slater were spotted out, including a date at Disneyland in September 2023, where they were joined by friends, along with Grande’s mom and brother.
The couple didn’t make their relationship Instagram official until a year later when Grande posted a photo with Slater for the first time in a carousel of pictures taken while filming Wicked.
They continued to share moments on the red carpet while promoting the movie.

Dalton Gomez
PEOPLE confirmed Grande’s relationship with the luxury real estate agent in March 2020, with a source revealing they started dating two months prior. Grande and Gomez got engaged months later in December 2020.
In May 2021, the two tied the knot in an intimate ceremony with only 20 attendees.
“They got married,” Grande’s rep confirmed to PEOPLE exclusively. “It was tiny and intimate — less than 20 people. The room was so happy and full of love. The couple and both families couldn’t be happier.”
However, two years later, a source confirmed to PEOPLE that the couple had separated in 2023 and “have been quietly and lovingly working on their friendship.” Their divorce was finalized in March 2024.

Pete Davidson
Grande and the Saturday Night Live star began dating shortly after her breakup with rapper Miller.
In late May 2018, Davidson made their relationship Instagram official by posting a photo of him and Grande posing in Harry Potter wizard robes.
Aside from showering each other with love on social media, Davidson shared a photo of his new neck ink that seemingly referenced the “No Tears Left to Cry” singer, and showed his support for her “lit” performance at Wango Tango that June.
The pair, however, broke up in October 2018 with a source telling PEOPLE, “It was way too much too soon.”

Mac Miller
The couple — who collaborated on her 2013 single “The Way” and his 2016 single “My Favorite Part” — took their romance public in September 2016 when Grande shared a photo of her and the rapper hugging on the floor with the caption “baabyyy.”
After years of dating, PEOPLE confirmed in early May 2018 that the pair amicably split a few weeks prior.
Only one month before their split, Miller voiced his support for Grande when she released her first single since the Manchester bombing in May 2017. “very proud of this girl right here. Welcome back. We missed You. One of a kind,” he wrote.
Miller tragically died of an accidental drug overdose in September 2018.

Ricky Alvarez
In July 2016, Grande and her former backup dancer called it quits after a year of dating.
Though Grande and Alvarez rarely addressed their relationship, she briefly opened up about their romance for her May 2016 Billboard cover story.
“We’re happy. I’m a very happy girl. I have a healthy life right now, and I think that’s all anyone cares to know. The end,” she told the publication.

Big Sean
The public began to “focus” on Grande and the “Moves” rapper’s budding relationship in August 2014 when they were first spotted at a movie theatre together.
However, the pair called it quits in April 2015 after nearly nine months of dating due to a conflicting tour schedule, according to E! News. In a joint statement, the pair revealed they “care deeply for each other and remain close friends.”
Earlier that year, Big Sean appeared on On Air with Ryan Seacrest, where he gushed about his relationship with the singer. “That Ariana is very, very special. She’s very special to me,” he said.

Jai Brooks
Before dating apps were ever a thing, Jai Brooks — an Australian YouTube comedy and member prank group The Janoskians — and his twin brother Luke challenged each other to see which one could grab Grande’s attention first via social media.
After the effort Brooks put in sending public messages and making a video for her explaining why she should date him in July 2012, Grande agreed. Grande and Brooks split in August 2014 after dating for nearly two years.

Nathan Sykes
Grande had her sights set on Sykes, a former member of boy band The Wanted, since she laid eyes on him early in her career on a red carpet, but it wasn’t until the music video shoot for their duet “Almost Is Never Enough” that sparks began to fly.
After months of speculation, Grande and Sykes confirmed their relationship on X (formerly Twitter). In January 2014, Grande confirmed in a radio interview that her and Sykes had decided to split after a five-month long relationship due to distance, but insisted that they remain close friends.

Graham Phillips
Grande and the Good Wife actor first met in 2008 when they starred alongside each other in 13: The Musical.
Shortly after they had their first kiss together, the actor and the “Side To Side” singer began dating until their amicable breakup in December 2011 after around three years of dating.
