Bachelor Star Hannah Ann Sluss and NFL Player Jake Funk Expecting Their First Baby Together: ‘Greatest Gift’ (Exclusive)

The Bachelor family is growing!

Hannah Ann Sluss, 29, and her NFL player husband Jake Funk, 27, are expecting their first baby together, a rep for the couple confirms exclusively to PEOPLE. The Bachelor alum, who tied the knot with Funk last June in a romantic ceremony in Italy, is set to welcome her little one in November.

“We found out we were expecting during a trip to Dubai,” Sluss tells PEOPLE. “It was such an unexpected and joyful surprise! A moment we’ll always treasure. I will be sharing Jake’s reaction video soon, it was so funny!”

Since they learned they are going to become parents while in another country, the two decided to keep the exciting news to themselves for a little while before sharing with friends and family.

“We waited until I was around 12 weeks, once I started feeling a bit better,” Sluss says. “We shared the news at a family party, and it was the best surprise! Everyone was so excited and incredibly supportive.”

After feeling a little under the weather in the beginning of her pregnancy, Sluss, who has partnered with Zarbee’s, is already taking her baby’s health into her own hands.

“As first-time parents, we’ve been doing our homework and being super intentional about everything that will go in and on our little one,” she explains. “With our baby arriving in November, right when cough, cold and flu season kicks into high gear, it was important for us to be prepared.”

“Finding gentle, safe and effective solutions that we can truly trust has been a top priority,” says Sluss, who adds that choosing Zarbee’s was an “easy decision.”

Now that she’s well into her second trimester, Sluss tells PEOPLE that she’s “feeling great.”

“The first trimester was all about rest and sticking to the basics – work, walks and taking care of Dash,” she explains. “I had a lot of food aversions, and almost everything tasted off except fruit (which I’ve always loved!).”

She and Funk have started talking names and want to make sure the one they choose for their little one has a special significance.

“We’ve started talking names and love the idea of choosing one that’s meaningful and tied to family in some way,” Sluss tells PEOPLE.

As they get ready to take this monumental step, Sluss says the couple just keeps coming back to how grateful they are.

“So thankful,” she says. “Becoming parents is the greatest gift, and we’re just in awe of God’s goodness in this season.”
