Bella Thorne Claims Co-Star Mickey Rourke Caused Injury on Set: “I Suffered Bruises on My Pelvic Bone”
Bella Thorne is reflecting on “one of the all time worst experiences” of her life as an actress.
In light of Mickey Rourke’s recent homophobic remarks directed at JoJo Siwa, Thorne took to her Instagram Story and X (formerly Twitter) on Friday to share her traumatic encounter with him while working on a film, although she did not specify which one.
“This dude. GROSS,” the actress expressed over a photo of Rourke. “I had to work with this man — in a scene where I’m on my knees with my hands zip tied behind my back. He was supposed to use a metal grinder on my kneecap, but instead, he used it on my genitals through my jeans, hitting them repeatedly. I ended up with bruises on my pelvic bone.”
The Time Is Up actress continued, “Working with Mickey was one of the all time worst experiences of my life as an actress.”
In another post, she elaborated on her experience, stating, “There are so many gross stories of things he made me endure during that movie, including in his final scene when he revved his engine to cover me completely in dirt. I guess he thought it would be funny to humiliate me in front of the entire crew. I had to go into his trailer completely alone because he refused to talk to the director or producers. I had to convince him to show up and finish his job as he shouted crazy demands at the producers. In fact, I had to beg. Alone. In his trailer.”
Thorne explained that the film could not have been made without Rourke, so even though she “didn’t want to do it,” she did “what was best for the movie.”
While Thorne did not specify the project, the two collaborated on the horror film Girl, released in 2020.
In response to Thorne’s claims, Rourke’s representatives issued the following statement: “We are aware of the deeply troubling statements made by Bella Thorne regarding her experience on set with Mr. Rourke during the production of a past film. These allegations are extremely serious. Mr. Rourke adamantly denies any intentional misconduct. He has not been contacted previously with any claims of this nature and was unaware of any discomfort expressed by Ms. Thorne at the time. Out of respect for all parties involved and in light of the gravity of the claims, Mr. Rourke will refrain from commenting further at this time. He is prepared to cooperate fully with any appropriate inquiry. We extend our support to all professionals who deserve to feel safe and respected in their workplace.”
