The 2025 Beyond Fest Festival will be bookended with Park Chan-wook’s No Other Choice as the opener and Yorgos Lanthimos’ Bugonia as the closer for the 13th edition to hit Los Angeles from Sept. 23.
In between, the genre film festival returning to the Egyptian Theatre, Aero Theatre and Los Feliz 3 will also feature Good Fortune, starring Seth Rogen, director Aziz Ansari, Keke Palmer, Sandra Oh and Keanu Reeves; Bryan Fuller’s Dust Bunny, starring Mads Mikkelsen and Sigourney Weaver; Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill’s Black Phone 2; Gore Verbinski’s action comedy Good Luck, Have Fun, Don’t Die; and Mary Bronstein’s If I Had Legs I’d Kick You.
The Sept. 23 to Oct. 8 run for Beyond Fest will also feature international titles like Jafar Panahi’s Palme d’Or winner It Was Just an Accident; Oliver Laxe’s Cannes breakout Sirat; Radu Jude’s Dracula, Genki Kawamura’s Exit 8; and Harris Dickinson’s Urchin.
Beyond Fest this year has also paired screenings and appearances by William Petersen, Tim Robbins, Ryuhei Kitamura, John Carpenter, Rob Reiner, Al Pacino, Guillermo del Toro, Luca Guadagnino, Jafar Panahi, Karyn Kusama, Butthole Surfers and Japanese icon Meiko Kaji.
“This year, we’re celebrating the full spectrum of genre filmmaking that intentionally ranges from the arthouse to the grindhouse,” Evrim Ersoy, the festival head of programming, said in a statement.
“Our goal has always been to connect film communities with the greatest variety of filmmakers, and the vast diversity of this year’s slate, featuring an unprecedented array of premieres and restorations, is a steadfast commitment to this mission and the power of genre cinema,” Ersoy added.
With a focus on emerging genre creatives, Beyond Fest will showcase short films at Los Feliz 3 across a range of genres like horror, sci-fi and fantasy.
