Bono Shares Emotional Memories and Performs U2 Hits in Apple’s ‘Stories of Surrender’ Trailer

Bono aims to give viewers what they’re looking for as he gets personal with Apple TV+‘s Bono: Stories of Surrender.
Available for streaming May 30, the film includes stories from the star’s life and performances of some of U2‘s iconic songs. The project is based on his memoir of the same name and reimagines his one-man stage show, Stories of Surrender: An Evening of Words, Music and Some Mischief…, which he launched in the fall of 2022. The movie also features never-before-seen footage from those shows at Beacon Theatre in New York City.
Also premiering May 30 on Apple Vision Pro is Bono: Stories of Surrender (Immersive), which was recorded in 8K with Spatial Audio to create a 180-degree video that puts audiences in the center of Bono’s performance.
“Something to know about performers: In pursuit of truth, we are capable of more untruth than most,” Bono tells the crowd in the trailer.
Later, he adds, “Turns out, the most extraordinary thing about my life is the people I’m in relationships with. I met my wife Ali the same week I joined U2.” He goes on to share difficult memories about his parents.
The songs heard on the trailer include his group’s hits “City of Blinding Lights,” “Where the Streets Have No Name” and “Beautiful Day.”
Serving as producers are Jon Kamen and Dave Sirulnick for RadicalMedia and Brad Pitt, Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner for Plan B Entertainment. Executive producers include Bono, Jennifer Pitcher and Kelly McNamara.
Bono has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and is the winner of 22 Grammy Awards as the longtime frontman for Irish rock band U2.
