Bruce Glover, Father of Crispin Glover and Veteran Actor Who Played a Classic James Bond Villian, Dies at 92

Bruce Glover, star of Chinatown and Diamonds Are Forever, has died. He was 92. 

A rep for his son, Crispin Glover, tells PEOPLE that the veteran actor died of natural causes on March 12.

“Bruce Herbert Glover May 2, 1932 – March 12, 2025,” Crispin, 60, wrote as he announced his death on Instagram on Saturday, March 29. 

A black-and-white photo shared by the Back to the Future actor showed Bruce as a young man in the army. 

He also shared a shot of Bruce in the film Chinatown released in 1974, him at the Los Angeles season two premiere of American Gods — in which Crispin starred – and Bruce with Crispin as a toddler sitting on his lap next to his wife Betty, who died in 2016.

Bruce was best known for his character roles as Duffy in Chinatown, starring opposite Jack Nicholson, and James Bond villain Mr Wint in Diamonds Are Forever (1971).

He appeared in several other films, including the Walking Tall series (1973-1977), and Hard Times (1975), as well as the shows Route 66 (1966), The Six Million Dollar Man (1975), CHIPS (1977-1979), The Streets of San Francisco (1976-1977).

Actress Jewels McCullough, who appeared in 1987’s Big Bad Mama II opposite Bruce, wrote in tribute on Facebook, “Rest In Peace Bruce Glover … Sad loss for the film industry. Great Actor, good Man. Sure enjoyed working with him in my first movie and appreciate that he and his wife Betty were so nice to me. Hugs to your heart Crispin Hellion Glover. Adored both your parents xox 😢💔🙏❤️‍🩹.”

Director and screenwriter Donald Farmer also wrote in honor of the late actor on Facebook, “Not only a tremendous actor but a wonderful acting teacher and Facebook friend.”

Bruce is survived by his son Crispin Glover.
