Cardi B Finally Announces New Album ‘Am I the Drama?’

Cardi B‘s sophomore album finally has a release date, with the superstar revealing Monday that Am I the Drama? will come out on Sept. 19 through Atlantic Records.

Am I the Drama? marks Cardi’s first album in seven years and follows her 2018 debut Invasion of Privacy, which went on to win the Grammy for best rap album in 2019 and went four-times platinum. That album featured several major hits, including her breakout single, “Bodak Yellow,” and the diamond-certified “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin.

Fans have clamored for a new album ever since, but the record has faced several delays. Still, she’s released plenty of singles in the interim, including the global smash hit “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion in 2020 and double-platinum “Up” in 2021. Both of those songs will be featured as the final two tracks on the 23-track album. In her announcement, shown below, Cardi shared the album artwork, in which she sports a red bodysuit that wraps above her head, while crows fly behind her and one perches on her foot.

Seven years of love, life and loss,” Cardi said in a voiceover she posted on her Instagram account Sunday ahead of the official announcement. “Seven years I gave them grace, but now, I give them hell. I learned power is not given, it’s taken. I’m shedding feathers, and no more tears. I’m not back, I’m beyond. The time is here, the time is now.”

Prior to the album announcement, Cardi dropped her latest single “Outside” last week, her first song of 2025. She performed that song at Spotify’s Cannes Lions event as well.
