Costume Designers Guild Awards Nominations: ‘Weapons,’ ‘Sinners,’ ‘Tron: Ares’ Among Film Nominees

The nominees for the 2026 Costume Designers Guild Awards have been revealed, with costume designer Colleen Atwood landing three nods as Weapons, Sinners, Palm Royale and costume designers Lindsay Pugh and Steven Norman Lee landed two nods each.

Weapons is nominated in the contemporary film category alongside Bugonia, F1 The Movie, One Battle After Another and Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.

In the period film category, Sinners is up against Downton Abbey: The Grand Finale, Frankenstein, Hamnet and Hedda.

The sci-fi/fantasy film category nominees are Avatar: Fire and Ash, How to Train Your Dragon, Thunderbolts*, Tron: Ares and Wicked: For Good.

Weapons, Sinners and Palm Royale were also nominated for excellence in costume illustration, where they’re up against On Swift Horses.

In terms of specific costume designers, Colleen Atwood was nominated for her work on One Battle After Another, the Wednesday “Woe Me The Money” episode with Mark Sutherland and Lady Gaga’s “The Dead Dance” music video. Lindsay Pugh received two nominations, for her work on Hedda and How to Train Your Dragon.

Winners will be revealed at the 28th CDGA ceremony on Thursday, Feb. 12 at The Ebell in Los Angeles.

At the 2025 Costume Designers Guild Awards, Conclave, Nosferatu and Wicked won for contemporary, period and sci-fi/fantasy film, respectively. Wicked and its costume designer Paul Tazewell went on to win the Oscar for best costume design.
