‘Dune: Prophecy’ Renewed for Season 2 at HBO

HBO will continue following the Sisterhood of Dune: Prophecy.

The series will return for a second season, showrunner Alison Schapker announced at a press conference Thursday. The renewal comes a few days ahead of the show’s first season finale, which debuts Dec. 22 on HBO and Max.

“We’re so thrilled and grateful for their support, for our partners at Legendary, and most of all that we get to keep working with these incredible people in front of and behind the camera and get to keep telling this story,” Schapker said.

Dune: Prophecy is set 10,000 years before the events of director Denis Villeneuve’s Dune feature films and centers on two Harkonnen sisters (played by Emily Watson and Olivia Williams) as they combat forces that threaten the future of humankind and establish the fabled sect that will become known as the Bene Gesserit. The series is inspired by Sisterhood of Dune, a novel by Brian Herbert (the son of Dune author Frank Herbert) and Kevin J. Anderson.

The season one cast also includes Travis Fimmel, Jodhi May, Mark Strong, Sarah-Sofie Boussnina, Josh Heuston, Chloe Lea, Jade Anouka, Faoileann Cunningham, Edward Davis, Aoife Hinds, Chris Mason, Shalom Brune-Franklin, Camilla Beeput, Jihae, Tabu, Charithra Chandran, Jessica Barden, Emma Canning and Yerin Ha.

More to come.
