Dylan Dreyer Says ‘a Week Doesn’t Go By’ Without the Today Show ‘Family’ Checking in on Sheinelle Jones amid Ongoing Absence

The Today show family is continuing to support Sheinelle Jones amid her absence.
Jones, 47, hasn’t appeared on the morning show since December and revealed in January that she’s been taking time away to deal with a “family health matter,” but Carson Daly said her co-hosts still “talk about her probably every day.”
“I don’t know anything about when or timeline [for her return], but we always think about her,” Daly, 51, told Entertainment Tonight.
“We’re wishing her well and she’s spending much-needed time with her family and that’ll just take its course. And there’s so much love going out to her.”
Dylan Dreyer echoed what Daly said, as she told the outlet, “We chat with her often. A week doesn’t go by where we’re not checking in, seeing how she’s doing.”
“We pray for her all the time, we can’t wait for her to come back, so we’re just waiting for that day to come,” Dreyer, 43, said.
Both Al Roker and Jenna Bush Hager also offered their thoughts on Jones’ absence.
“The fact of the matter is, we’re so grateful to all the fans and viewers who’ve been praying for her and praying for her family and [she’s] just taking it one day at a time,” Roker, 70, said.
Bush Hager, 43, added, “The Today show is a family and we take care of each other, we love each other.”
In January, Jones broke her silence about her absence from the show in a statement on Instagram, as she wrote, “I sincerely appreciate all of you who have reached out while I’ve been absent from the show. I want to share with you that I’m taking time to deal with a family health matter.”
“It’s not lost on me how lucky I am to have not on the support of my Today show family, but to also have all of you. Your kindness means so much to me. I’ll see you soon,” she continued.
A source close to Jones later told PEOPLE that her family situation is “serious,” but confirmed that the health matter does not pertain to her or her three kids — 14-year-old Kayin and 12-year-old twins, Clara and Uche — who she shares with her husband Uche Ojeh.
“Sheinelle appreciates the support she’s received from fans and viewers in her absence,” the source said. “She’s especially grateful for her tight-knit Today show family and co-hosts, for all their love during a sensitive time.”
The Today show airs weekdays on NBC (check local listings).
