Emma Corrin and Jack Lowden Lead Star-Studded Cast in Exciting New Netflix Miniseries of Pride and Prejudice

Netflix is set to expand its lineup of classic literature adaptations with a new series.
The streaming service has officially greenlit a six-episode limited series based on Jane Austen’s beloved novel, Pride and Prejudice. Emma Corrin, Jack Lowden, and Olivia Colman are confirmed to take on lead roles in the series, which is crafted by writer Dolly Alderton, known for the BBC’s Everything I Know About Love, and directed by Euros Lyn, famous for Heartstopper. Production will be handled by BBC Studios’ Lookout Point, with filming scheduled to begin later this year in the U.K.
Corrin, recognized for her roles in The Crown and Nosferatu, will portray Elizabeth Bennet, the witty and independent second daughter of the Bennet family. Lowden, known for Slow Horses, will play Mr. Darcy, the affluent and stern gentleman whose romance with Elizabeth serves as the heart of the story. Oscar and Emmy winner Colman, celebrated for her performances in The Favourite and The Crown, will assume the role of Mrs. Bennet, Elizabeth’s mother.
“Once in a generation, a group of people get to retell this wonderful story, and I feel very lucky that I get to be a part of it,” Alderton shared in a statement. “Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice is the blueprint for romantic comedy—it has been a joy to delve back into its pages to discover both familiar and fresh ways of bringing this beloved book to life. With Euros Lyn directing our stellar cast, I am thrilled to reintroduce these hilarious and complex characters to those who cherish Pride and Prejudice as their favorite book, as well as to new audiences who have yet to meet their Lizzie and Mr. Darcy.”
Mona Qureshi, director of U.K. content at Netflix, added, “We are delighted to share this cherished British classic with our global audience. Pride and Prejudice is the ultimate romantic comedy. Dolly’s fierce intelligence and enormous heart, combined with her genuine love for the Austen novel, allows her to present new insights while honoring what generations of fans hold dear. The caliber of the cast, led by Emma, Jack, and Olivia, is a testament to this precious story being in the best possible hands with Euros Lyn and the Lookout Point team.”
Alderton and Lyn will serve as executive producers alongside Laura Lankester, Will Johnston, and Louise Mutter from Lookout Point, as well as Corrin.
“Playing Elizabeth Bennet is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity,” Corrin expressed. “To bring this iconic character to life alongside Olivia and Jack, with Dolly’s phenomenal scripts, is truly the greatest honor. I can’t wait for a new generation to fall in love with this story all over again.”
Previously, Netflix adapted Austen’s Persuasion into a feature film in 2022, starring Dakota Johnson. The streaming giant is also working on a limited series adaptation of John Steinbeck’s East of Eden, featuring a cast that includes Florence Pugh, Christopher Abbott, Mike Faist, and Hoon Lee.
