‘Fox Reality Check’ Replaces Hosts Rob Anderson and Amanda McCants With Kalen Allen in Format Revamp (Exclusive)

Fox is reimagining its YouTube series Fox Reality Check with Kalen Allen as the new host and Kids at Play as the new studio, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. The YouTube series was previously hosted by Rob Anderson and Amanda McCants and produced by Liquid Light. The old version released its final episode in May at the end of the traditional TV season.

The new-look Saturday series premieres on Sept. 27 on Fox’s Reality Club YouTube Channel. Fox Reality Check is a weekly series that “reviews and revels in the chaos of Fox’s reality TV empire,” the logline reads. The digital comedy show blends “sharp commentary, viral-style games and behind-the-scenes tea.”

This season, Fox Reality Check will cover “outrageous moments” from Fox unscripted fare like 99 to Beat, The Floor, Celebrity Weakest Link, Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, Celebrity Name That Tune and Hell’s Kitchen. It’s basically a gamified version of The Soup but for Fox reality shows only.

Fox Reality Check will have a rotating panel of guests, which this season will include Kelsey Darragh, Tyler Bender, Lindsey Shaw, Jake Clark, Tiahra Nelson, Hannah Kosh, Sam Sanders, Lauren Ashley Beck and more.

“Working with Fox and Kids at Play has been an absolute dream,” Allen said in a statement. “From day one, they have been incredible partners, collaborative, supportive and always willing to let me be fully myself. Together, we have been cooking up ways to make this show not just entertaining but truly special for fans of Fox reality. Think of us as the hot sauce on the side: you already love the meal, but we are here to give it that extra kick of flavor to make the experience even more fun.”

“Kalen and the Kids at Play team are the perfect fit for our fresh take on Fox’s Reality Check,” said Emily King, executive vice president of marketing strategy, media & digital at Fox Entertainment. “As the reigning king of reactions, Kalen brings his signature mix of unfiltered wit, outrageous observations and big-hearted humor to every episode. We knew his voice, and his dedicated followership, would be the perfect way to highlight the comedy and chaos of our reality slate and connect with the massive audience on YouTube.”

“This season, Fox’s reality lineup is second to none with Jane Lynch in Celebrity Weakest Link, Ken Jeong and Erin Andrews on 99 to Beat, and Johnny Knoxville joining midseason to reboot Fear Factor, so Reality Check needed to meet a whole new level of limitless energy, intensity and wit,” said Darren Schillace, president of marketing for Fox Entertainment. “The Fox marketing team, Kids at Play and Kalen have a vision to elevate Fox’s most outrageous, memorable reality moments and connect with our fans in truly unforgettable, unexpected ways.”

“Fox has always been synonymous with bold, groundbreaking unscripted television, and this series is a true celebration of that legacy,” said executive producer and Kids at Play founder Jason Berger. “Kalen Allen represents what we call ‘Host 3.0,’ someone who brings all the traditional skills of a great host, combined with a fresh sense of style, flair, and humor we’ve never seen before.”

Fox Reality Check is executive produced by King, Berger, Diogo Felippelli, Sophia Lefrancois, Amy Laslett, Mark Marraccini and Kevin Healey.
