Francia Raisa Teases New Memoir on Live From The Other Side with Tyler Henry: ‘A Reset for Myself’
Francia Raisa is ready to set the record straight.
The actress, 36, who is best known for her roles in such shows as The Secret Life of the American Teenager and How I Met Your Father revealed that she is working on a memoir while appearing on the Tuesday, Nov. 26 episode of Netflix’s Live From The Other Side with Tyler Henry.
“I’ve been quietly in the planning stages of writing a tell-all book about my life. Tyler Henry validated those plans by reaffirming that I should pursue it. Can’t wait to share more!” Raisa told PEOPLE exclusively.
The reveal happened just after Henry, a celebrity psychic medium, told Raisa that she should consider writing a book.
“It seems like it both helps clear [the] past and helps act as an elevation forward,” he said, of a potential memoir from the star.
At that point, Raisa said she is already working on one, though she is unsure when it will be released. “I’m taking it as a reset for myself,” she explained.
Raisa came under scrutiny after she made the decision to donate one of her kidneys to long-time friend Selena Gomez in 2017. Gomez, 32, was suffering from life-threatening complications from lupus at the time and required a transplant.
“There aren’t words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa,” Gomez wrote in a 2017 Instagram post announcing the news. “She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis.”
Raisa also posted a message in a since-deleted Instagram post, writing, “I am beyond grateful that God would trust me with something that not only saved a life, but changed mine in the process. This was part of our story, and we will share it soon, but what is important now is that this is not the only story.”
By 2022, there was speculation that there had been a rift between the two friends, especially after Gomez said that Taylor Swift was her “only friend” in the industry during an interview with Rolling Stone.
In December 2023, Raisa admitted that while the pair had drifted apart at times, they were still friends.
Raisa has also been open about her own health struggles in recent months. In June, she revealed that she had recently been diagnosed with SIBO and endometritis — which may impact her fertility.
“I’ve been very open about my health, especially my PCOS. But in the past two weeks, things took a serious turn,” she wrote on Instagram. “After years of confusing symptoms and seeing several doctors and taking different tests to get NO real answers, I found a new gynecologist who told me that I also have SIBO and endometriosis, which puts me at a very high risk of having complicated pregnancies in the future.”
“I was in shock,” she added, conluding her post with a commitment to work for better reproductive health care for all women.
Live From The Other Side with Tyler Henry airs live on Netflix every Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET.
