FX’s ‘Alien: Earth’ Official Trailer Reveals a Predatory Twist

The first trailer is here for FX’s Alien: Earth from Fargo showrunner Noah Hawley.
The trailer (below) sets up the show’s premise — a crashed spacecraft brings the dreaded Alien xenomorph to Earth.
But it also contains a rather intriguing surprise, as one character intones: “This ship collected five different life forms from the darkest corners of the universe. Monsters … Invasive species. Predatory.”
The revelation opens up the prospect of the show having both the familiar sort of creatures from the Alien universe and also something new. There is also some clicking overheard during one portion of the trailer that sounds a bit like the creature from the Predator franchise, which has crossed paths with the Alien franchise previously. In any case, the prospect of a variety pack of monsters will certainly raise the intrigue level for fans.
The official description: “In the year 2120, the Earth is governed by five corporations: Prodigy, Weyland-Yutani, Lynch, Dynamic and Threshold. In this Corporate Era, cyborgs (humans with both biological and artificial parts) and synthetics (humanoid robots with artificial intelligence) exist alongside humans. But the game is changed when the wunderkind Founder and CEO of Prodigy Corporation unlocks a new technological advancement: hybrids (humanoid robots infused with human consciousness). The first hybrid prototype named ‘Wendy’ (Sydney Chandler) marks a new dawn in the race for immortality. After Weyland-Yutani’s spaceship collides into Prodigy City, Wendy and the other hybrids encounter mysterious life forms more terrifying than anyone could have ever imagined.
The rest of the cast includes Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Samuel Blenkin, Babou Ceesay, Adrian Edmondson, David Rysdahl, Essie Davis, Lily Newmark, Erana James, Adarsh Gourav, Jonathan Ajayi, Kit Young, Diêm Camille, Moe Bar-El and Sandra Yi Sencindiver.
FX’s Alien: Earth is created and executive produced by Noah Hawley. Ridley Scott, David W. Zucker, Joseph Iberti, Dana Gonzales and Clayton Krueger also serve as executive producers.
The series will premiere on FX and Hulu on Aug. 12.
