Giancarlo Esposito, Harold Perrineau, Taryn Manning, Ryan Hurst Join Punk Indie Drama ‘Out Come the Wolves’ (Exclusive)
Giancarlo Esposito, Harold Perrineau, Taryn Manning and Ryan Hurst have joined the cast of Out Come the Wolves, an indie drama which is marking the directorial debut of producer Danny Peykoff.
The feature is currently shooting in Portland, Oregon and stars Orlando Norman and Spence Moore II, along with Heidi Grace Engerman and Cassady McClincy Zhang. Sam Rechner, West Mulholland and Curran Walters are also on the call sheet.
Set against the East Bay punk music scene in the mid 1990s, Wolves is a story of grit and dreams in a world of violence and desperation. Norman, Moore, Engerman and Zhang play a tight-knit group of high school friends dreaming of escaping the blighted city in which they live.
Esposito is playing a ruthless and sadistic mid-level kingpin with a smooth attitude and a deadly smile, while Perrineau is playing Moore’s father, laying all his hopes and dreams on his son’s booming baseball career.
Manning is Norman’s mother, a woman who never wanted a kid and never fails to hides it. Hurst is an unhoused man with plenty of addictions but also a prophetic insight.
The drama is inspired by the 1995 album of the same name from punk rock band Rancid and written by Peykoff and Jason and Jamie Neese (Umbrella Academy).
Peykoff and the Neese brothers are producing Wolves, along with Glenn Kleczkowski and Paul Hadad.
Esposito is best known for his villainous work in AMC’s acclaimed series Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. He also appeared on Star Wars series The Mandalorian. On the movie side, Esposito this year appeared in Ford Coppola’s sci-fi epic Megalopolis, A24’s MaXXXine and Universal’s monster thriller Abigail. He next plays a villain in Marvel Studios’ Captain America: Brave New World, out Feb. 14, 2025.
Perrineau, one of the original stars of landmark TV series Lost, earned a 2020 NAACP Image Award for best supporting actor for his role in TNT series Claws.
Manning, whose credits range from 8 Mile and Hustle & Flow, has been spending time in the TV space in recent years, with appearances on shows such as Orange Is the New Black and Hawaii Five-O.
Hurst may be best known for his work on FX series Sons of Anarchy as well as The Walking Dead. He is part of the sprawling case of Netflix’s upcoming western series The Abandons.
Esposito is repped by CAA, Sugar23, and Jackoway Austen, while Perrineau is repped by Strand Entertainment and Felker Toczek. Manning is repped by Established Artists and Hurst is repped by UTA and Piper Kaniecki Marks.
