Who is Zoë’s famous husband, Oliver Dimsdale?

Accustomed to a busy filming schedule, Oliver Dimsdale has starred in the likes of Dalziel and Pascoe, Rise to Candleford and Casualty, among others. In 2013, the actor famously portrayed The Prince of Wales in Downton Abbey‘s Christmas episode, before landing the role of Mr Keen in series four of Mr Selfridge

Currently, Oliver has a recurring role as Daniel Marlowe in Grantchester, and he’s also the co-founder and co-Artistic Director of Filter Theatre. In a sweet twist, Zoë has actually appeared in a 2020 episode of Grantchester, in which she played Betsey Granger.

Oliver and Zoë’s home life

Oliver and Zoë tied the knot in 2008, four years after they first met.

The couple became engaged during a romantic trip to Rome, six months before they married.

Sharing details of the special moment Oliver popped the question, Zoë told the Mail on Sunday in 2010: “We were having dinner at this beautiful restaurant when a woman walked in and started singing our favourite aria from The Marriage of Figaro. I said, ‘Oh, she’s singing our song, how amazing‘, and then I realised that she was looking only at me, and Ollie went down on one knee and said he had organised it and would I marry him? I was in floods of tears for three days. We had the song at our wedding too.”

The pair have since welcomed two children together.

During a 2023 appearance on the White Wine Question Time podcast with Kate Thornton, the actress revealed that their family is based in London.

Speaking about whether or not their children would like to follow in their footsteps and become actors, Zoë explained: “There’s this slightly funny sensibility sometimes when people say to me in regards to my children, ‘ooh two actors as parents, are you worried they’re going to want to go into the profession?’ And I’m like ‘no I’m not worried at all!’ If that’s what they want to do I’m with them every single step of the way because I love it.”

Zoë also shared her experience of postnatal depression during the candid interview. “When I had my daughter, almost 12 years ago, I almost immediately, post-birth, had crippling postnatal depression,” the actress explained, adding: “It hit me like a sledgehammer, and I couldn’t actually access the help I needed, at all.”
