Graham Norton Makes a Splash in ‘Doctor Who’ with Special Guest Appearance in Exciting Eurovision-Themed Episode
Irish television host Graham Norton is set to make an appearance in the upcoming series of Doctor Who.
Known as the “King of Eurovision,” a title earned from his long-standing role as the commentator for the lively European singing contest, Norton will feature in the sixth episode of season 2 (also referred to as season 15) alongside an ensemble cast in a Eurovision-themed episode.
“Graham Norton’s trading his big red chair for a blue box in Doctor Who season two!” the BBC announced on Friday.
“The King of Eurovision makes an appearance in the new series, joining the ensemble cast for the 803rd Interstellar Song Contest.”
Russell T. Davies’ show is set to return to the BBC and Disney+ on April 12. It will star Ncuti Gatwa, known from Sex Education, as the titular Time Lord, alongside nurse Belinda Chandra (played by Varada Sethu) as they embark on a mission to return Belinda to Earth, with Millie Gibson expected to reprise her role as Ruby Sunday.
“There’s no song contest without the great man himself, and it was an honor to welcome Graham Norton to our studios in Cardiff,” Davies shared. “And it’s not just a cameo; he has a whole plot twist all to himself! This is the wildest episode of all, and we’re lucky to have Graham adding to the mayhem.”
Sethu recently discussed her role as a companion to Gatwa’s Doctor, highlighting what fans can expect from the series.
“[Belinda] holds him accountable,” Sethu explained. “She calls him out when his etiquette slips. He’s this alien that’s lived for so long, and a lot of it is spent experiencing loss and also living alone. He is used to people putting him on a pedestal.”
“Belinda doesn’t do that,” she continued. “She sees him as a friend and a partner in navigating these challenges, which creates a much more balanced and healthy relationship between them.”
