Hilary Swank Boards ‘Yellowjackets’ for Season 3
Yellowjackets is adding some more star power to its third season.
The Paramount+ With Showtime series, produced by Lionsgate Television, has cast two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank in a recurring role. Details on her character are being kept under wraps for now, although she’ll make her first appearance in the latter stages of the season. The show is currently filming season three in Vancouver.
Swank is the second high-profile actor to join Yellowjackets for its coming season; Joel McHale was cast in a guest role in August. As is the case with Swank, there’s no word yet on who McHale is playing, or whether either actor will show up in the series’ 1996 or 2021 timelines (though the latter seems more likely).
Yellowjackets wrapped its second season with major developments in both its present-day timeline and in the 1996-set part of the story (big spoilers in both links), as the show continues to unravel how members of a high-school soccer team survived a plane crash in the Canadian wilderness and the ongoing aftereffects of the ordeal on the survivors 25 years later.
Ashley Lyle and Bart Nickerson created Yellowjackets and serve as co-showrunners along with Jonathan Lisco. They executive produce with Drew Comins of Creative Engine, Jeff Byrd, Sarah L. Thompson and Ameni Rozsa.
Swank is coming off of Lionsgate’s feature film Ordinary Angels. The Million Dollar Baby star’s recent credits also include ABC’s Alaska Daily and feature films Fatale and The Hunt. She is repped by WME, Entertainment 360 and Jackoway Austen.
Deadline first reported Swank’s casting.
