Hollywood’s Golden-Era Hotspots Get a Modern Close-Up

Hollywood’s most storied dining rooms are having a renaissance and rewriting their script on-screen, online and across state lines.

Whether it’s Musso & Frank earning a Taylor Swift name drop, Craig’s expanding to Nashville or Yamashiro taking its panoramic glamour to Miami, these legendary hangouts have turned decades and even centuries in business into more than 15 minutes of fame.

Check them out below.

The Smoke House
4420 Lakeside Dr, Burbank

For 76 years, The Smoke House has been the scene for studio execs to hash out deals over martinis, baby back ribs and that famous garlic cheese toast. Proximity has been its greatest virtue, with the good fortune of being just steps from the Warner Bros. Studio lot. George Clooney even named his production company after it. Recently, it reached a new crescendo of fame for its appearance in Seth Rogen’s The Studio.

Yamashiro
159 NE 6th St, Miami

For more than 100 years, Golden Age Japanese restaurant Yamashiro has watched over the Hollywood Hills, and now, in a bold bi-coastal move, it’s opening in Miami. The new Yamashiro, located on the rooftop of the Gale Hotel, pays homage to its West Coast counterpart with a lush Japanese garden setting. The expansion will also include the reinvention of the 400 Club, a private club for Hollywood’s elite that is part of Yamashiro’s storied past.

Musso & Frank Grill
6667 Hollywood Blvd, Hollywood
Since 1919, it has made a mark in Hollywood, starring in countless films and television shows, but in 2025, Musso & Frank Grill hit the apex of pop culture with a name drop in Taylor Swift’s “Elizabeth Taylor.” Now all the channels are buzzing with hot takes on what is “the best booth at Musso & Frank. The answer is ubiquitous: wherever they serve the Fairbanks and Pickford Original Fettuccine Alfredo and the Flannel cakes.

Craig’s
611 9th Ave S, Nashville

West Hollywood staple Craig’s makes its Nashville debut on Nov. 12. Like the L.A. location, street artist Retna created the exterior mural, his first in Music City. Located in the Gulch, expect it to become a hangout for the city’s music industry glitterati as they slide into the leather booths or up to the two bars. The frosted glass door, pigs in a blanket and chicken parm do the original justice.

Genghis Cohen
448 N Fairfax Ave, Los Angeles

Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld walk into a restaurant on Fairfax and the rest is history. Genghis Cohen was famous in L.A. for its red lanterns, red booths and silk dragons long before it became the inspiration for “The Chinese Restaurant” on Seinfeld. Now, in a new location down the street from its original home, the classic Chinese-American diner rooted in a historic Jewish community is serving Canton Knish to a fresh fan base.
