‘Homestead: The Series’ Renewed for Season 2 at Angel Studios (Exclusive)

Angel Studios has renewed Homestead: The Series for a second season, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, which also means season one is actually going to be finished.
Homestead: The Series, a continuation of Angel’s Homestead film, stars Bailey Chase (Longmire), Charles Esten (Nashville), Dawn Oliveri (1883), Jill Wagner (Lioness) and Jesse Hutch (Freddy vs. Jason).
“Homestead has captivated audiences worldwide with its bold and uplifting vision of the post-apocalyptic genre,” Jordan Harmon, the president of Angel, told THR. “The stellar cast, fueled by the unwavering support of our Angel Guild, has not only has allowed us to greenlight the completion of season one but also secured an early greenlight for season two, ensuring fans can dive back into the story sooner than ever.”
Here’s the story behind that whole “completion of season one” part. Homestead: The Series completed two episodes of season one before snow in Utah caused a major delay in production. How major? Fundraising via the Angel Guild had to start over from scratch, and Homestead: The Series is only returning to production this summer. The remaining season one episodes are expected to be released for streaming on the Angel Studios website and app in late 2025; the first two episodes have been available there since December 20, 2024, when Homestead: The Series was released day and date with Homestead the theatrical film.
The second season will continue to follow the residents of the titular Homestead as they navigate new threats, internal conflicts, and the ongoing struggle to rebuild in a fractured world. Homestead: The Series is directed by Ben Smallbone and produced by Ben Kasica and Andrea Royer.
“The remaining season one and two takes us deeper into the aftermath, as the Homestead transforms from a survivalist stronghold into the fragile heart of a new civilization — where rising hope collides with the threat of war, and the choice to lead could cost everything,” Kasica said.
Homestead is based on the Black Autumn book series by Jeff Kirkham and Jason Ross. The story follows ex-Green Beret Jeff Eriksson (as Chase), who leads his family to a fortified prepper compound after a nuclear detonation in Los Angeles plunges the nation into chaos. The Homestead movie grossed $6 million during its opening weekend and achieved a domestic gross box office of over $20 million.
“We’re thrilled to bring Homestead back for another season,” Smallbone said. “The story’s heart lies in its characters and their journey to find hope amidst chaos. With Bailey and Charles leading the charge, we’re excited to explore new dimensions of their stories and the world they’re fighting to protect.”
