Hulu Nabs Alex Cooper Documentary

Hulu is extending its relationship with Alex Cooper.
The Disney-owned streamer announced Tuesday that it will debut the documentary Call Her Alex on June 10, two days after its premiere screening at the Tribeca Festival. The two-part doc follows Cooper, as she prepares for her first tour supporting her Call Her Daddy podcast and traces her life from a childhood in Pennsylvania to influential media figure.
The show is the second project Cooper’s Unwell company (which is producing Call Her Alex) has landed at Hulu. Unwell is also behind the Overboard for Love, a dating series on which Cooper is an executive producer that Hulu ordered to series in March.
“I’ve shared my life with the Daddy Gang since I started Call Her Daddy, but this documentary series takes it even deeper,” Cooper said in a statement. “It’s a behind-the-scenes look at the moments that shaped me — the raw, the messy, the personal stuff I’ve never felt comfortable sharing until now. My hope is that by bringing people along for this part of my journey, they’ll feel both more connected to my life and more empowered in their own.”
Ry Russo-Young (HBO’s Nuclear Family, Shrinking) directed Call Her Alex and executive produces with Braden Bochner and Christopher Foss. Holly Siegel is producer. The deal was negotiated by Hulu and by Lionsgate on behalf of Unwell.
