Ice Spice has a lot of love for her girls — which she channeled as she starred in kate spade new york’s new spring/summer campaign.
The new campaign, called “To the Ones Who Carry Us,” is all about friendship and those who support us. Ice Spice stars in the campaign alongside Charli D’Amelio (and kate spade new york’s Deco Chain Shoulder Bag) in a handful of stylish outfits to promote the value of friendship in all of its forms.
Ice Spice, 25, she tells PEOPLE that she loves girls’ nights out … and girls’ nights in! Both have their unique qualities because she loves to when her crew can go out to dinner and really live it up, but she also loves to have girl talk when she’s at home in sweats with her friends.
“This campaign is a vibrant love letter to the friends who shape a girl’s life,” said Eva Erdmann, CEO and brand president of kate spade new york. “Since joining the brand, we’ve been exploring new meaningful ways to connect with a younger audience. In a world where digital interactions often overshadow genuine connections, the profound bond of friendship becomes, more than ever, an indispensable anchor. … As Kate Spade herself once said, ‘A good friend is like the perfect handbag — always by your side, effortlessly lifting your spirit, and making every adventure a little more fabulous.’”
Ahead, the Grammy-nominated rapper tells PEOPLE about her experience shooting the new campaign, what she keeps in her kate spade new york handbags and all about the best friends who keep her going.
Tell us a little bit about working with the kate spade new york team on this project!
Ice Spice: I’ve loved working with kate spade new york on this campaign. Everything about the brand just clicks with me — it’s playful, stylish, and all about celebrating who you are. When I heard the campaign was about friendship and showing love to the people who carry us through life, it just felt like the perfect fit.
What was it like shooting this campaign? What was the vibe on set? Set the scene for us!
Ice Spice: The energy was real cute — laughs, music blasting and everybody hyping each other up. It low-key felt like a girls’ night out, just chillin’ and having fun. That’s the whole kate spade new york vibe though, right? Just being yourself and looking good doing it.
The new kate spade new york bags are so cute. What do you always have inside your handbags?
Ice Spice: I’m so obsessed with the denim Deco handbag that I wear in the campaign — it’s perfect for fitting all my essentials. I always keep lip gloss in there. My phone, too, of course. Perfume, because I like to smell good at all times. I usually have a hair tie, a little mirror and my journal too, so I can write down lyrics or little thoughts when they hit me.

How big is your handbag collection? Do you remember the first really nice bag you ever bought for yourself?
Ice Spice: It’s definitely grown a lot. I love switching it up depending on my mood or the fit. I do remember my first designer bag — bought it for myself after one of my early shows. It was one of those “I did that” moments.
This campaign is all about the power of friendship, and we’d love to know about your besties and your favorite things to do together. What’s an ideal girls’ night out?
Ice Spice: Honestly, I’m down to do anything as long as I’m with my girls. Grabbing dinner somewhere cool and low-key and taking a million photos is always a good time. My girls are everything to me. We hype each other up, we laugh till we cry and we always make time for each other, no matter what’s going on, whether it’s a quick FaceTime or sending a voice note.
On the flip side, what’s your favorite way to spend a girls’ night in?
Ice Spice: A girls’ night in is all about comfort. We’re in sweats, ordering takeout, watching movies, and catching up on everything. It’s the best time for those important deep conversations, a post-breakup pep talk if my girls need one, and all the things we don’t always get to say out loud. Those chill nights mean just as much as going out — it’s about being together, feeling safe, supported and loved. It doesn’t have to be a big moment — just being around each other makes all the difference.

What’s the best advice your best friend ever gave you?
Ice Spice: My best friends always remind me to be myself, and that’s something that sticks with me day after day. Shine how you shine, take up space, and don’t apologize for it. The real ones will support you no matter what.
What’s the best gift one of your best friends has ever given you?
Ice Spice: Ironically, my favorite gifts I’ve received are bags or luggage, and they’re also my favorite gifts to give.
This being the spring/summer campaign, it means summer is just around the corner. What are you looking forward to this season?
Ice Spice: This summer, I’m looking forward to making more music, traveling, and just being outside with my people. And of course, rocking my kate spade new york Deco bag everywhere I go.
