Inside Stanley Tucci’s home life – from famous in-laws to five children
Even though Hollywood star Stanley Tucci is now in his 60s it doesn’t look like he’s going to be slowing down anytime soon, with the star still regularly appearing in new projects, including his latest offering, Conclave.
Away from his work, however, the Hollywood star can be found at his home in London with his wife Felicity Blunt and children. Want to know more about his family? Here’s what we know…
Felicity’s biography
Stanley and Felicity, who is the older sister of actress Emily Blunt, married in 2012. Stanley famously starred alongside Emily in the 2006 film The Devil Wears Prada and the two became such good friends that she invited him to her wedding to John Krasinski in 2010. While there, the actor met the English literary agent and the pair immediately hit it off. They became engaged in 2011 during a holiday to Berlin, Germany.
Stanley reflected on the pair’s 21-year age gap and during an appearance on Desert Island Dics, he confessed: “I was afraid to get into a relationship and I kept trying to break it off. I’m 21 years older than she is and I didn’t want to feel old for the rest of my life! But I knew that this was an incredibly special person.”
Wedding
They initially exchanged vows in a private ceremony but decided to celebrate their marriage with a group of friends a few weeks later. Acting as best man was Boardwalk Empire star Steve Buscemi and acting as bridesmaids were Emily, her youngest sister Suzie and friend Amy Dixon. Celebrity guests included Meryl Streep, Julianne Moore, Ewan McGregor, and Colin Firth.
Stanley and Felicity now live together in the leafy suburbs of West London with their two children: nine-year-old Matteo Oliver and six-year-old Emilia Giovanna.
When Stanley was diagnosed with oropharyngeal cancer in 2018, Felicity supported him through his journey and revealed that she was the one who talked him into undergoing radiation treatment for the illness, which ultimately saved his life. “I was so afraid, but Felicity was very insistent,” he explained on Sunday Sitdown with Willie Geist. “I mean, they had to drag me, kicking and screaming, but now, I wouldn’t be around if I hadn’t done that [treatment].”
Stanley’s first marriage
Before Stanley met Felicity, he suffered a devastating blow with the death of his first wife, Kate Spath. She tragically died in 2009 at the age of 47, following a battle with breast cancer. The couple married in 1995 and welcomed three children together during their 14-year marriage: twins Nicolo and Isabel, 24, and 21-year-old Camilla. Stanley also helped raise Kathryn’s two children from a previous marriage.
Stanley has previously admitted that he felt “guilty” after he proposed to Felicity, and opening up in an interview with CBS last year, he explained: “You never stop grieving. It’s still hard after 11 years. It’s still hard. And it will always be hard. But you can’t let it… and she would never want any of us to ever wallow in that grief and let it take over our lives. She would never want that. She wasn’t like that.”
Speaking on Desert Island Discs, Stanley continued: “Felicity has been so incredible taking on a widower and three children,” he added. “That’s a huge thing, at a very young age too. If anybody made things better for all of us, it’s her. She’s the one.”
Children
Stanley’s children often keep out of the spotlight, with the actor once reflecting: “My kids don’t really like to watch me in movies. They just want me to be me.” However, eldest son Nicolo made his acting debut in 2019 in MotherFatherSon, where he played a younger version of Richard Gere’s character of Max.
Reflecting on how his eldest children dealt with the loss of their mum, Stanley told NPR in 2010: “I’m sad for Kate that she can’t be here, and I’m sad for my children that they didn’t have the opportunity to spend more time with her because she was an extraordinary person.”
