Simone Biles Teases ‘Interesting’ Detail of Her Met Gala Look Ahead of Hosting Duties Alongside Husband Jonathan Owens (Exclusive)

Simone Biles offered some hints about her look for the 2025 Met Gala.

The 28-year-old Olympian gold medalist and her husband, football star Jonathan Owens, will be part of this year’s host committee. The event, billed as the biggest night in fashion, will take place on Monday, May 5 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City.

Each year, the Met Gala has a theme. For 2025, it is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” Celebrity attendees famously reveal their looks on the red carpet. However, Biles opened up to PEOPLE about her outfit while attending the 2025 Kentucky Derby over the weekend.

“I think they’re telling me I’m going to wear at least five to six inch heels, so that will be so interesting,” she hints, when asked for details about the outfit.

The gymnast is no stranger to a “higher heel,” but she says that the shoes for the event are “a little bit higher than most times.”

Biles adds that she and Owens, 29, aren’t working with the same designer. However, they are still going to complement each other on the carpet.

“We’ll be cohesive with one another, so that’s really exciting to share another moment,” she says, sweetly adding that Owens is the star she is “most excited to see.”

Asked what it’s like being on the hosting committee, Biles explains that there hasn’t been too much to consider beyond her fantastic outfit.

“Honestly, it’s just been designing for the apparel, what I’m going to wear, what my outfit looks like. So no big, big job, which is also cool because I’ve just been so busy. So really just show up, have a good time, wear a beautiful fit, and then just walk the carpet,” she gushes.

Other members of the host committee this year include Doechii, Regina King, Spike Lee, Angel Reese and Usher. They join the year’s co-chairs, Colman Domingo, F1 driver Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams and honorary chair LeBron James. They will work with Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour.

This will mark Biles second time attending the Met Gala.

She made her debut in 2021, wearing a statement-making AREA x Athleta look designed by Beckett Fogg and Piotrek Panszczyk of Area. It reportedly weighed in at 88 pounds.

“How do I feel in the dress? It’s definitely heavy, but I feel beautiful, strong, and empowered,” she admitted to Vogue at the time.

During an appearance on Good Morning America, Wintour, 75, addressed the rumor that she approves every look for the Gala. According to her, it is not true.

“Many call and ask our advice, so we try and help some of them as best we can. Some, no idea,” she said.
