Jeff Daniels to Join ‘The Morning Show’ Cast in Fifth Season

Jeff Daniels is headed to The Morning Show.

The Newsroom star, who appears in season 3 of Shrinking, is joining the show’s cast in its fifth season, Apple TV announced on Monday. Though he’s headed back to a series about a news show, Daniels is set to play a non-journalist character in “Lukas,” the billionaire founder of an investment company.

The two-time Emmy winner joins the all-star cast of Reese Witherspoon, Jennifer Aniston, Billy Crudup, Mark Duplass and Jon Hamm. In its fifth season, the series will pick up on dramatic events from the previous season, which saw Witherspoon’s character Bradley detained in Belarus and a group of characters expose a UBN executive involved in a cover-up.

Showrunner Charlotte Stoudt has previously said the fifth season will explore the relationship between Bradley and Crudup’s character Cory. “With Bradley and Cory, are they twin flames? Are they mirrors of each other and have similar pathologies?” she told The Hollywood Reporter in an interview about the fourth season finale.

The Morning Show is showrun and executive produced by Stoudt and directed and executive produced by Mimi Leder. Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer executive producer for studio Media Res. Witherspoon executive produces the show with Lauren Neustadter for Hello Sunshine and Aniston and Kristin Hahn executive produce for Echo Films. Zander Lehmann and Micah Schraft are also executive producers.

Daniels is represented by LBI Entertainment, Martino Management and PMK Entertainment.
