Jimmy Kimmel to Deliver Channel 4’s Alternative Christmas Message 2025

Jimmy Kimmel is set to deliver the Alternative Christmas Message on Britain’s Channel 4 on Christmas Day this year.
During his address, Kimmel will reflect on the past few months, after his late night talk show, Jimmy Kimmel Live!, was briefly taken off the air by ABC after a comment he made in the wake of Charlie Kirk’s murder during his Sept. 15 episode drew heat online, including from FCC chair Brendan Carr. During Kimmel’s remark in question, he said, “We hit some new lows over the weekend with the MAGA gang desperately trying to characterize this kid who murdered Charlie Kirk as anything other than one of them and doing everything they can to score political points from it.”
While some Republicans, such as President Donald Trump, celebrated Kimmel’s suspension, other politicians and Hollywood notables condemned ABC’s decision, calling it an attack on free speech.
“From a fascism perspective, this has been a really great year,” the talk show host is expected to say during the Alternative Christmas Message.
Kimmel’s address will follow the tradition of other topical presenters delivering the message, including the President of Iran, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad; whistle-blower Edward Snowden; and Afghan war veteran Major Andrew Stockton.
Channel 4 has been airing the Alternative Christmas Message since 1993 as an alternative to the traditional Royal Christmas message. It typically provides a contrasting, often challenging, viewpoint to the monarch’s annual televised address.
The 2025 Alternative Christmas Message will stream on Channel 4 at 5:45 p.m. UTC on Christmas Day.
