Josh Hartnett is sharing some rare comments about his family life.
On a Wednesday, May 7 episode of The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, the Fight or Flight actor, 46, shared rare comments about his family life. Hartnett joked with host Jimmy Fallon that his kids, whom he shares with wife Tamsin Egerton, make fun of him for being American.
“My kids love to give me crap about being an American because I’m the only American in our house. I’m a foreigner in my own home,” said the dad of four. “My middle one does a really good impersonation of me, [and] will just kind of turn to me and be like, ‘I’m Daddy, and I like pizza and I won’t mow the lawn.’ ”
“And then my littlest daughter keeps telling me what it’s like to be English, like she keeps saying to me, ‘You might not understand this Daddy, but in England we say boot instead of trunk of a car,’ ” he continued. “And I’m like, ‘I’ve lived here for longer than you. I made you.’”
The Trap actor and his wife are parents to four children, whose names they haven’t publicly disclosed. They welcomed their first baby, a daughter, in late 2015, while their second and third kids arrived in 2017 and 2019, respectively. In February 2024, Hartnett revealed that he and Egerton had quietly welcomed their fourth baby.
Like their relationship, Hartnett and Egerton have kept their kids primarily out of the spotlight. However, Hartnett occasionally shares a look at his home life in interviews.

While promoting his latest role in M. Night Shyamalan’s horror film Trap in which he plays a father, Hartnett has shared a few details about his children, including how he doesn’t necessarily want his kids to follow the same career as him.
“We’ll try and keep them away from it as much as possible because we want them to have normal upbringings,” he told PEOPLE of why he and Egerton don’t raise their kids in the spotlight.

Five months after confirming that he and his wife welcomed their fourth baby together, the actor opened up to PEOPLE about how he maintains a healthy work-life balance.
“Well, I mean, we’ve done it a couple of times now. It’s never easy,” he said. “The newborn needs what the newborn needs. But yeah, you know, it’s fun.”
“We have so much fun with our kids, so to be able to have that when I get off set, especially on something like this, is a dream come true. You need it,” Hartnett added. “You need it in order to take this stuff out of your bed.”
