Inside Treasure’s New Album ‘Pleasure,’ Their Inaugural U.S. Tour, and Aspirations for the Future

K-pop boy group Treasure has eagerly anticipated the chance to meet their U.S. fans.
The 10-member ensemble is set to conclude the U.S. leg of their Special Moment tour, which emerged from YG Entertainment’s music survival show YG Treasure Box, with a performance in Los Angeles on Sunday. This marks the group’s first U.S. tour in their five-year journey.
In a conversation with HiCelebNews before their tour, Treasure shared insights about their recently released special EP, Pleasure, which they describe as a showcase of a different side of the group.
Below, Treasure reflects on their EP Pleasure, their personal growth since their 2020 debut, and their inaugural U.S. tour.
**What were some of the highlights of making Pleasure? Do you have standout moments?**
Doyoung: First of all, our members played a significant role in creating our latest album. As a special album, Pleasure combines the unique method of love that is exclusive to Treasure.
**Does anyone have a personal favorite on the album?**
Haruto: I personally love “Yellow.” It’s a track with such catchy charm that you’ll want to listen to it on repeat. It’s an ambitious song because Asahi, [Choi] Hyun-suk, Yoshi, and I all contributed to writing its lyrics.
Jae-hyuk: For me, I absolutely adore the track “Whatever, Whenever.” It creates overwhelming moments for me when I focus on its flow and lyrics, imagining myself singing it at a concert. I’m already thrilled at the thought of our fans singing along with us.
**How do you feel about being able to try different genres on the album?**
Junkyu: We genuinely enjoy showcasing new sides of Treasure, and this album was specifically aimed at revealing those new facets to our fans, whom we affectionately call Treasure Makers.
**Can you talk about what your dynamic feels like as a team at this point in your career and while making this album?**
Hyun-suk: We’ve been emphasizing the importance of communication for a long time. With many members comes a variety of opinions, but since we’ve spent so much time together, coordinating our thoughts hasn’t been difficult. As we worked through this process, we became stronger as a team. We’re realizing how reliable we are to one another, and we feel that as one team, we demonstrate remarkably strong teamwork and are thriving as active musicians.
**As you continue to release music and grow as artists, how do you want to be perceived by both fans and those that might not yet know you? Has that changed since you debuted?**
Jihoon: The image of Treasure we’d like to present hasn’t changed much since our debut. As we celebrate our fifth anniversary, we want to show both longtime fans and newcomers that while there are many talented groups with great music, we are artists who genuinely enjoy performing and can deliver spectacular shows, even when we’re relaxed.
**Do you feel you’ve learned anything new about yourself while working in Treasure these past few years?**
Jeong-woo: Through our many concerts, we’ve noticed that the tension and awkwardness we initially felt on stage have gradually diminished. We’re learning to have more fun and create even happier memories for our fans.
**What do you think fans who have been waiting to see you will be most excited about for your first U.S. tour?**
Jihoon: Since we’ve never been to the U.S., there’s a distinct difference between seeing us in person versus watching us online. We hope fans will feel that our performances come to life in a way that surpasses video filters. Additionally, we expect to enrich our performances with live band sounds.
Yoshi: We’re known as a performance-oriented group in Korea, and we aspire to be recognized in the same way in the U.S. someday.
**A live band really adds to the experience. Can you talk a bit about performing with one?**
Jihoon: To be honest, aside from our debut days, we’ve collaborated with live band members since we started performing on tour, and that’s been the case for almost three years now. While it might not be immediately noticeable, we work with the band to enhance the flow and vibe of our performances. These elements will greatly benefit our sound, so we hope you look forward to it.
**Outside of the performances, what are you most excited about with touring in the U.S.?**
Jung-hwan: I remember visiting the U.S. when I was very young, so I have high expectations for experiencing the outdoor scenery and landscapes.
**As you continue to make music and perform as Treasure, what are your goals as a group?**
Jihoon: In the short term, we want to plan an amazing new tour this year that showcases our growth and compares favorably to our previous performances. We aim for our setlist to provide a rich experience for those new to our work, and connecting with many people through it would be our biggest goal for this year.
