Katy Perry Praises Lady Gaga After Attending ‘Mayhem’ Tour in Mexico City: ‘So Proud of You’

Katy Perry joined in on the Viva La Mayhem fun!

On Monday, April 28, the “Teenage Dream” singer shared pictures and videos from Lady Gaga’s Sunday night concert in Mexico City at Estadio GNP Seguros. Perry, 40, had performed in the city on April 23, 25 and 26, kicking off her Lifetimes Tour at the CDMX Arena.

“Show was MAGINIFCA! The dress! The sand! Every moment was theee moment,” Perry posted on her Instagram Stories with a picture of Gaga, 39, in a massive gown. “So proud of you and grateful to grow up together @ladygaga Love u.”

Among Perry’s Instagram updates were videos of Gaga singing “Perfect Celebrity” surrounded by sand and skeletons, along with her posed atop a balcony with the flag of Mexico. Perry also shared a video of her with friend Lauren Glucksman and co-songwriter Sarah Hudson singing along to “Abracadabra.”

Perry and Gaga performed separate concerts in Mexico City on Saturday, April 26. Next, Perry will head to Monterrey, Mexico, for two concerts at Arena Monterrey on April 28 and 29 for her career-spanning Lifetimes Tour. She was meant to travel to Guadalajara next but due to ongoing construction at Arena Guadalajara, Perry won’t be able to perform on May 1 and 2.

“Last week I sent my team to the Arena to make sure there wasn’t anything we could do to make this happen but it was evident when they arrived that the venue was not ready or safe to receive my show or an audience,” she wrote on her Instagram Stories on April 22, per Rolling Stone.

She continued: “I wish I could fix this but it is beyond my control. You guys mean the world to me and we have all been on such a beautiful journey together that I will be thinking about how I can create something special for the fans in Guadalajara in the future.”

Meanwhile, up next for Gaga is Mayhem on the Beach, taking place in Rio de Janeiro in Brazil on Saturday, May 3 before heading to Singapore in mid-May. In the summer, she will embark on her Mayhem Ball Tour with dates in North America and Europe.

The 14-time Grammy winner will perform in New York, Las Vegas, Seattle, Miami, Chicago and Toronto, along with Milan, Paris and Lyon among other European cities.

“I wasn’t planning to tour this year after my shows in Singapore but the incredible response to the new album inspired me to keep things going,” Gaga said on Instagram when announcing the Mayhem Ball shows in late March, adding that the concert dates and venues “came together super quickly.”

“We chose arenas this time to give me the opportunity to control the details of the show in a way you simply can’t in stadiums — and honestly, I can’t wait.”

Gaga added: “This show is designed to be the kind of theatrical and electrifying experience that brings MAYHEM to life exactly how I envision it. The MAYHEM Ball Tour is officially coming your way. See you soon, monsters.”
