Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos Open Up About How Their Latest Passion Project is Transforming Their Marriage

Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos have been happily married for nearly three decades, continually discovering ways to enhance their relationship. On Monday’s episode of their show, the hosts shared that Mark’s latest obsession has positively influenced their marriage. The 54-year-old revealed his newfound passion for golf, expressing gratitude to Kelly for her understanding when he spent “16 hours” watching the 2025 Masters Tournament over the weekend.

“I’m officially hooked on golf. I watched the Masters,” he said. “Kelly, thank you for letting me – not letting me, but for not having a problem with me watching 16 hours of golf over four days.” Kelly found her husband’s confession amusing and noted that she was occupied with her own activities rather than being irritated by Mark’s television fixation. “You don’t know everything that goes on while you’re watching golf,” she joked, while Mark playfully mentioned that he noticed more packages arriving at their home.

Mark enthusiastically discussed the events of the golf tournament, which concluded with Rory McIlroy as the winner, prompting Kelly to tease him about his new hobby. “I feel in this moment probably about how you feel when I talk about anything else,” she quipped. “Because I heard ‘caddy’ and ‘icing him out’ and everything else, and I have no idea what was just said. It was sort of like a haze. I went into a little haze.”

Undeterred, Mark continued to share his excitement for the sport with guest Cameron Mathison, who noted that golf is the one sport that “actually improved the marriage,” a sentiment both Kelly and Mark agreed with. The couple has been married since 1996, having eloped in Las Vegas just one year after meeting on the set of All My Children, where they played on-screen love interests Hayley Vaughan and Mateo Santos.

Kelly previously revealed that she knew Mark was ‘the one’ even before they met. “I saw my husband in a photograph before I saw him, and I knew,” she shared during an interview. “I wasn’t looking to get married… but when I saw him, the photograph of him, I saw my entire future with him flash before – like I saw it.”

She added, “And I don’t believe in any of that, but now I do. Because of that moment.” While acknowledging that marriage can be challenging, Kelly has been candid about the keys to their successful relationship. “Relationships, marriages are not sprints; it’s a marathon,” she explained during an episode of Live with Ryan Seacrest. “There’s going to be like, mile 24 when you’re like, ‘I quit.’ But you just got to push through. Just push through.”

Since their wedding, the couple has welcomed three children: Michael, 27, who is pursuing a career as an actor, writer, and director; Lola, 23, an aspiring singer; and Joaquín, 21, who is currently studying at the University of Michigan.
