Kim Kardashian Reveals She Didn’t Pass California Bar Exam: “I’m Not a Lawyer Yet, I Just Play a Very Well-Dressed One on TV”

Don’t call Kim Kardashian a lawyer yet — unless you’re referring to her character in All’s Fair.
Kardashian took to her Instagram Stories on Saturday to share that she didn’t pass the bar exam, which she took over the summer.
“Well…I’m not a lawyer yet, I just play a very well-dressed one on TV,” she wrote. “Six years into this law journey, and I’m still all in until I pass the bar. No shortcuts, no giving up — just more studying and even more determination.”
She then thanked everyone who has supported her in this effort before adding, “Falling isn’t short of failure — it’s fuel. I was so close to passing the exam and that only motivates me even more.” The result comes after Kardashian previously failed the California bar exam three times. However, she passed the “baby bar” exam in 2021.
The reality star has been studying through an apprenticeship program in California and was inspired to pursue a career in the legal field, focusing on criminal justice reform.
In 2022, Kardashian told The Hollywood Reporter what she hopes to accomplish in her future legal career. “I want to finish law school and then my ultimate goal is to open up a firm that hires formerly incarcerated people,” she said.
The beauty mogul, who entered the spotlight from her hit show, Keeping Up With the Kardashians, which centered around her and her family members. But since 2018, the Skims founder has been multitasking across all her ventures to pursue her legal studies. Law also runs in the family, as Kardashian’s later father, Robert, was an attorney and famously a member of the late O.J. Simpson’s dubbed “Dream Team.”
So, it’s only fitting that Kardashian would collide worlds as she’s currently starring in Ryan Murphy’s show All’s Fair, playing a lawyer. However, despite it’s A-list cast including Glenn Close, Naomi Watts, Sarah Paulson and Niecy Nash, it’s received harsh reviews, with THR‘s TV critic, Angie Han, calling the show “stiff and affectless.”
But regardless of the reception, it’s been a hit with viewers, as it’s currently the No. 1 show on Hulu. Kardashian responded to the negative reviews playfully, writing on Instagram, “Have you tuned in to the most critically acclaimed show of the year!?!?!?,” to a carousel of photos and memes.
