Lala Kent Says She Hasn’t Talked to James Kennedy Since His Domestic Violence Arrest — but Has Been Texting Ally Lewber

Lala Kent is weighing in on James Kennedy’s arrest.

During an Amazon livestream on Thursday, Dec. 19, Kent, 34, answered a fan-submitted question about her former Vanderpump Rules costar. As she was asked if she’s “spoken with James at all since the incident,” referring to his Dec. 10 arrest on suspicion of domestic violence, she said, “I have not.”

The businesswoman revealed that she has been in contact with his girlfriend Ally Lewber, though. “I’ve spoken with Ally,” Kent shared. “I checked in on her and she wrote me a text back and that’s all I’m really gonna share on that topic.”

Later in the live stream, when another fan asked for her opinion on Kennedy, 32, and Lewber’s relationship, Kent said she doesn’t have “many thoughts.”

“When something happens in someone else’s relationship, you first and foremost want to make sure like, ‘Hey, how are you doing, are you okay? I’m here if you need me,'” she said. “But beyond that, I really don’t sit and think about anybody else’s relationship.”

PEOPLE has attempted to reach out to Kennedy multiple times for comment.

Lewber also released a statement following her boyfriend’s arrest, as she wrote on her Instagram Stories on Dec. 14, “Thank you to everyone who has reached out with love and support and for checking in on me.”

“I’m okay and taking the time I need right now,” she continued. “I deeply appreciate all the kindness and respect for my privacy during this time.”

Kent is not the first VPR alum to react to the news of Kennedy’s arrest. His ex-fiancée Rachel Leviss shared a screenshot from a TMZ story with the headline, “James Kennedy DV [domestic violence] Arrest Was a Misunderstanding!!!! Gf Ally Standing By DJ,” on her Instagram Stories as she reflected on her own experiences with him.

“The amount of times I convinced myself that the abuse I endured by James Kennedy Georgiou was a ‘misunderstanding’ is sickening,” Leviss, 30, wrote. She also linked an April episode of her podcast titled “Bad At Love.”
