The CW has nabbed two seasons of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent, with the 10-episode rookie season to premiere this fall.

The Toronto-shot crime drama starring Aden Young and Kathleen Munroe is based on Dick Wolf’s classic format and follows elite detectives investigating murder and other high profile crime cases in Canada’s biggest city. Their police team’s investigative skills are showcased through psychological tactics, with a focus on the motives and actions of criminals being pursued.

The series bowed on Citytv in Canada, a subsidiary of Rogers Sports & Media, and is produced by Lark Productions and Cameron Pictures Inc., in association with Universal International Studios. The series’ 2024 launch north of the U.S. border was the top-rated primetime premiere on Citytv.

Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent is the next gripping chapter of one of the greatest and most recognizable broadcast television brands of all time, and we can’t wait to bring this series to The CW this fall,” Brad Schwartz, president of The CW Network, said in a statement.

Schwartz earlier picked up a host of other Canadian series for CW, including Wild Cards, Sight Unseen, Sullivan’s Crossing, Son of a Critch and Children Ruin Everything. Tassie Cameron is showrunner and executive produces the Canadian spinoff of the format created by Dick Wolf and developed by Rene Balcer.

Also sharing executive producer credits is Erin Haskett, Amy Cameron, Alex Patrick, David Valleau, and co-executive producer Tex Antonucci. NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution handles international distribution of Law & Order Toronto: Criminal Intent.
