Exploring the Lives of Leslie Uggams’ Two Children: Meet Danielle and Justice

Leslie Uggams is a proud mother of two children: Danielle and Justice.
The star of *Roots* married her husband, Grahame Pratt, in 1965, and together they welcomed their daughter, Danielle Chambers (née Pratt), five years later. Their son, Justice Pratt, was born in 1975.
Uggams first met Grahame, who later became her longtime manager, while she was touring in Australia. In 2018, she described her husband as “smart and witty and fearless.”
When it comes to her children, the *Deadpool* and *Wolverine* star tends to keep details about her daughter and son private, and they generally stay out of the public eye. Occasionally, she shares glimpses of her family on social media, including a memorable photo from when she received an honorary doctorate of fine arts from the UConn School of Fine Arts in 2015.
Two years later, Uggams and Grahame attended the dual premieres of *Empire* and *Star* with Danielle and Justice.
Here’s everything to know about Leslie Uggams’ children: Danielle and Justice.
Danielle Chambers, 55
Uggams and Grahame welcomed their first child, daughter Danielle, on April 11, 1970.
Born in New York City but raised in California, Danielle attended Beverly Hills High School, as noted in her bio on her mother’s website. She later returned to New York to study theater and film at the Tisch School of the Arts at New York University.
Involved in the arts from a young age, Danielle spent her early years backstage at the theater while her parents starred in *Cabaret* during the summer stock circuit. Witnessing her mother’s performances inspired her to pursue a similar path.
Early in her career, she performed in a production of *Once on This Island* in Little Rock, Arkansas, and later produced and performed her own cabaret at Eighty-Eights. Despite being surrounded by the arts, Uggams revealed in a 2014 interview that Danielle didn’t express her desire to sing until her teenage years.
Uggams mentioned that being a stage mom wasn’t in the cards for her, as Danielle kept her aspirations private until college. “We were just tested being parents,” the *Fallout* star remarked. “But our 3-year-old granddaughter loves to dance, so maybe we can be stage grandparents.”
Throughout her career, Danielle participated in the first national tour of the musical *Titanic* and has been involved in several regional productions, including *Into the Woods*, *Cinderella*, and *Beehive*. She also made appearances on the soap opera *One Life to Live* in 2007 and 2008.
In a delightful collaboration, Uggams performed alongside her daughter in March 2024 during a cabaret show titled *Something Old, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue*, where they transformed the song “Put A Little Love in Your Heart” into a duet, as reported by the New York Stage Review.
In her personal life, Danielle married Kevin Chambers on November 27, 2002, and they are parents to a daughter, Kassidy. The couple met while Danielle worked for Spirit Cruises, where she was a singer-waitress before joining the cruise band.
Justice Pratt, 48
While studying at SUNY Purchase, Justice appeared in several theater productions, including *Finding the Sun*, *Love’s Labour’s Lost*, and *Idiot’s Delight*. He also starred in commercials, television, and film, such as *The Ernest Green Story*.
Beyond acting, Justice has built a career in hospitality. According to his LinkedIn profile, he has experience as a concierge, mixologist, and event operations manager. He also obtained his real estate license in New York City and worked as an agent for several years.
Currently, he is a freelance director and producer for Mama Bear Media Group.
Justice has been present for many significant moments in his mother’s career, including her induction into the Theater Hall of Fame in November 2021, where he captured several photos of Uggams.
