‘Little House on the Prairie’ Remake Casts More Ingalls Family Members

Netflix’s Little House on the Prairie is moving quickly to fill out its core cast.

On the heels of announcing Alice Halsey will play Laura Ingalls in the series, the streamer has cast Luke Bracey, Crosby Fitzgerald and Skywalker Hughes as other members of the Ingalls family.

Bracey (Elvis, Little Fires Everywhere) will play Charles Ingalls, the family’s patriarch. Fitzgerald (Palm Royale) is set to play Caroline, Charles’ wife and the mother of older daughter Mary, who will be played by Skywalker Hughes (Joe Pickett), and Laura.

CBS Studios and Anonymous Content Studio are producing Little House, which is based on Laura Ingalls Wilder’s semi-autobiographical novels. The books previously formed the basis for a 1974-83 series that starred Melissa Gilbert as Laura, Michael Landon as Charles, Karen Grassle as Caroline and Melissa Sue Anderson as Mary. Landon also executive produced the earlier series and directed dozens of episodes.

Rebecca Sonnenshine (The Vampire Diaries, The Boys) is adapting the Little House books and will serve as showrunner on the series. When Netflix gave the long-developing show a series order in January, Sonnenshine said that she “fell deeply in love with these books when I was five years old. They inspired me to become a writer and a filmmaker, and I am honored and thrilled to be adapting these stories for a new global audience with Netflix.”

Sonnenshine executive produces with Joy Gorman Wettels of Joy Coalition, Trip Friendly (whose father, Ed Friendly, exec produced the prior series) for Friendly Family Productions, Dana Fox and Susanna Fogel. Sarah Adina Smith is set to direct the first episode.

Bracey is repped by UTA, Fourward and Goodman Genow. Fitzgerald is with Authentic Talent and Literary Management and Alexander White Agency.
