MGK Says He’s a ‘Cheerleader’ for Daughter Casie, 15, as the Pair Make Rare Red Carpet Appearance (Exclusive)

Machine Gun Kelly isn’t just a dad, he’s his eldest daughter’s “hype man!”

On Saturday, June 21, the musician, 35, stepped out at the 2025 Nickelodeon Kids’ Choice Awards with his 15-year-old daughter, Casie, for what marked a rare orange carpet appearance for the duo.

MGK wore an all-black fit with his tousled blonde hair, while Casie opted for a light purple dress for the occasion. During their father-daughter outing, she introduced MGK’s performance of his latest single “Cliché.”

“[He] definitely gives a lot of advice. He’s more like a hype man, though,” Casie tells PEOPLE of her dad ahead of his performance, before adding that he encourages her to be “myself.”

“Yeah, I’m a cheerleader,” MGK, born Colson Baker, says.

Elsewhere during their chat with PEOPLE at the event, MGK explains how life has been with a new baby in the mix. The pop-punk star and ex Megan Fox welcomed daughter Saga Blade in March, and as MGK says, he recently “wrote her a lullaby on a ukulele.”

“Megan is in the no sleep club, for sure,” he says of their adjustment to newborn life. “I’ve been traveling a little bit, just doing some performances. So on those nights, I for sure, just hit the snooze button a million times and I’m catching up on all this.”

“Women are in the rougher trenches of the newborn process, but my specialty is music and laughs and whatever I can do to make her smile and kind of get introduced to the world with love,” he adds.

As for Casie, being an older sister so far has been “fun,” she tells PEOPLE.

“It’s really just so cute. I love her so much,” she says. “It’s so cute. It’s like, different, you know?”

MGK and Casie’s outing came a day after they were seen sharing a hug outside of his performance at Today‘s Citi Concert Series. The dad, who shares Casie with ex Emma Cannon, has previously taken her to the KCAs in 2017 and 2019, and notably brought Casie with him to the 2021 American Music Awards.

MGK’s new album, Lost Americana, is set to arrive on August 8. He tells PEOPLE, before being slimed at the end of his performance of the new single this weekend, he wants to be “a vessel for a really happy project in a very dark time.”

“So I think it’ll naturally find its way to people’s ears. Good music goes a long way,” he says. “And I still believe in albums and people being like, ‘Yo, I just heard a great album.’ Then you have to hear it. So word of mouth is kind of what I’m going for.”
