The 2025 MTV Video Music Awards will make its debut on CBS, announced on Thursday.

The awards show, which celebrates the best music videos of the year, will air on CBS for the first time. The three-hour broadcast will also simulcast on MTV and stream on Paramout+.

A one-hour live pre-show will air across Paramount Media Networks.

The 2025 VMAs will air live from the UBS Arena, on Sunday Sept. 7 at 8:00-11:00 PM ET/5:00-8:00 PM PT.

Alicia Portugal and Jackie Barba are Executives in Charge of Production. Wendy Plaut is the Executive in Charge of Celebrity Talent. Lisa Lauricella is a Music Talent Executive.

Last year, Taylor Swift topped the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, winning seven awards, including video of the year for “Fortnight” featuring Post Malone. Sabrina Carpenter took home the Moon Person for song of the year, and Chappell Roan was named best new artist the 2024 show.

Katy Perry received the 2024 Video Vanguard Award.

This year’s telecast follows the success of the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards, which scored its biggest audience in four years. The show averaged 4.09 million viewers across MTV, 11 other Paramount-owned cable channels and UniMas, which marked an 8 percent gain over the 2023 VMAs (3.78 million viewers) and the best total for the VMAs since 2020; figures for both years include the main show, preshow and encore airings.

Nominations, performers and additional details of the 2025 show will be announced closer to the broadcast date.
