Netflix Is Finally Putting ‘Tudum Live’ on Netflix — and Now It’s a Variety Show

Netflix’s Tudum Live is finally going to be … on Netflix. What a concept.
Tudum is named the the sound effect that plays ahead of any piece of Netflix programming. Tudum Live is the streamer’s fan fest — it’s like a Comic-Con just for Netflix (though CinemaCon may actually be a better comparison). So the Netflix programming marketing other Netflix programming is now considered proper Netflix programming itself. You follow?
And this year, not only will Tudum finally move from a YouTube live-stream to a Netflix live-stream within the Netflix app, the whole event is being reimagined as a variety show format, The Hollywood Reporter has learned, including performances, stunts and segments.
The first Tudum event took place just ahead of the global COVID-19 pandemic, in January 2020 at the Bienal Pavilion of São Paulo, Brazil. At the time, Tudum focused on the platform’s young-adult programming, and the initial gathering drew more than 50,000 fans over four days, according to the streamer. Tudum returned to São Paulo in 2023, drawing more 35,000 in-person attendees and recording more than 78 million views across Netflix’s global social channels (like YouTube).
This year, Tudum Live will be proper Netflix programming in and of itself, streaming live on Netflix on May 31 at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT from the Kia Forum is Los Angeles. The event promises “Netflix’s biggest stars, can’t-miss performances, jaw-dropping reveals and unforgettable moments.”
Some of those stars will come from Emily in Paris, Frankenstein, Happy Gilmore 2, Love is Blind, One Piece, Outer Banks, The Rip, Squid Game, Stranger Things, America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders, The Life List, Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery, Wednesday and the WWE, Netflix said, as well as others from additional series, films and franchises yet to be announced.
