Netflix has given a straight-to-series order to an A24-produced crime drama, Trigger Point, starring Joel Edgerton.
The streamer won a bidding war for the project, which comes from creator and showrunner Harrison Query (Heads of State, Paramount+’s upcoming Unspeakable: The Murder of JonBenet Ramsey). Rebel Ridge helmer Jeremy Saulnier is on board to direct.
Netflix describes Trigger Point as an action crime drama. According to its logline, the eight-episode season will follow “a group of former Tier One Special Forces operators who sell their elite skills to the criminal underworld behind the front of a private military contracting firm — and the FBI agent who’s hunting for them.”
Edgerton (Train Dreams, Apple TV’s Dark Matter) will play a character named Red, one of the former special forces operatives-turned-criminals.
A24 bought Query’s spec script for Trigger Point earlier this year and has been developing the project for several months. Saulnier has been attached to the show from the start, with Edgerton coming on board before A24 took the series out to potential buyers.
Query will executive produce Trigger Point with Saulnier and Joe Hipps and Patrick Macdonald of Cut To, which has a deal at A24.
Trigger Point joins an A24 TV roster that also includes the recently ordered Discretion (Paramount+) and Superfakes (Peacock), along with current series Beef (Netflix), Overcompensating and Hazbin Hotel (both Prime Video) and the upcoming Margo’s Got Money Troubles (Apple TV).
Edgerton is repped by WME and Anonymous Content. Query is with CAA, Ground Control and McKuin Frankel. Saulnier is repped by CAA, Untitled Entertainment and Granderson Des Rochers.
