Unraveling Love: Netflix’s ‘Four Seasons’ Trailer Exposes the Tensions in Modern Marriages

The three couples at the heart of Netflix’s comedy series The Four Seasons are navigating some turbulent times.
The recently released trailer showcases the impressive cast, including Tina Fey, Will Forte, Steve Carell, Kerri Kenney-Silver, Colman Domingo, and Marco Calvani, as they enjoy their time together while also grappling with the strains in their marriages. Notably, Carell remarks that he and his wife (Kenney-Silver) “sit in the same room monitoring different screens. We’re like co-workers at a nuclear facility.”
Moreover, the trailer indicates that Carell’s character decides to leave his wife (Kenney-Silver) for a younger woman (Erika Henningsen), mirroring a key plot point from the 1981 film that inspired The Four Seasons.
The series description states, “Six old friends head for a relaxing weekend away only to learn that one couple in the group is about to split up. The three couples, Kate (Fey) and Jack (Forte), Nick (Carell) and Anne (Kenney-Silver), and Danny (Domingo) and Claude (Calvani), find their lives turned upside down by this revelation. Over the course of a year, we follow these friends on four vacations and observe how this disruption impacts their dynamic—bringing both old grievances and new tensions to the surface.”
In addition to the main cast, The Four Seasons includes Julia Lester, Ashlyn Maddox, Jacob Buckenmyer, Taylor Ortega, Simone Recasner, Toby Edward Huss, Tommy Do, Chloe Troast, Jack Gore, and Cole Tristan Murphy.
Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield co-created The Four Seasons, which became a highly sought-after project as the 2023 labor strikes concluded. Netflix secured the series with a straight-to-series order in January 2024 after winning a bidding war for the Universal TV production.
The executive producers include Fey, Fisher, Wigfield, along with David Miner, Jeff Richmond, and Eric Gurian. Alan Alda, who starred in, wrote, and directed the original 1981 film, and Marissa Bregman, the daughter of the film’s producer Martin Bregman, serve as producers. The directing team features Robert Pulcini and Shari Springer Berman, Oz Rodriguez, Richmond, Domingo, and Fisher.
