NFL Chief Roger Goodell on Speculation Taylor Swift Could Be This Year’s Super Bowl Halftime Performer: “She Would Be Welcome at Any Time”

Could Taylor Swift be this year’s Super Bowl halftime performer?
NFL commissioner Roger Goodell stopped by NBC’s Today show on Wednesday morning, where he addressed the rumors swirling that Taylor Swift could nab that coveted spot — and it seems like he’s not ruling it out.
Today host Savannah Guthrie asked him about the possibility, to which Goodell replied: “We would always love to have Taylor play. She is a special, special talent and obviously she would be welcome at any time.”
Guthrie also asked: “Is it in the works?,” and if it’s a “maybe?”
“I can’t tell you anything about it… It’s a maybe,” Goodell said.
Asked when the announcement of who this year’s performer would be made, Goodell said: “I’m waiting on my friend Jay-Z. It’s in his hands. I’m waiting for the smoke to come out.” Goodell is referring to Jay-Z’s Roc Nation, which produces the Super Bowl halftime show.
While Swift has never been a Super Bowl halftime performer before, she has appeared at numerous NFL games to support her partner and Kansas City Chiefs’ tight end, Travis Kelce, including her highly publicized appearance at 2024’s Super Bowl when the Chiefs defeated the San Francisco 49ers.
Last month, Swift and Kelce got engaged after two years of dating. The couple revealed the news in a joint Instagram post, with the caption: “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” In the carousel of five photos, one of them shows Swift showing off her massive engagement ring, which could be worth $1 million.
In 2024, Kendrick Lamar was announced as the Super Bowl LIX halftime show performer on Sept. 8, so it’s safe to assume the unveiling will come soon.
