‘Nobody Wants This’ Renewed for Season 3

Actually, everybody wants this.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Netflix renewed Nobody Wants This for a third season just two weeks after season two was released on the streamer. The announcement dropped on social media, with a video of its female lead, Kristen Bell, telling castmembers on individual FaceTime calls that they were coming back for another round.

The Jewish rom-com, which is loosely based on the show’s creator Erin Foster’s life, stars Adam Brody as a rabbi who falls in love with Bell’s Joanne, who is an agnostic sex podcaster. The couple’s journey in the first season saw them deal with the lingering question of: How will this work? In season two, from showrunners Jenni Konner and Bruce Eric Kaplan, viewers watched Joanne and Noah months into their relationship, get more serious after they committed to each other.

The season two finale ended with Noah’s sister-in-law, Esther (Jackie Tohn), giving a pivotal speech to Joanne about how she feels like she is Jewish, whether she is with Noah or not. And from that conversation, it looked like Joanne was finally set on converting as she and Noah got back together at the very end, mirroring the season one finale.

“I love that Esther comes around and is the person pointing this out to Joanne. It’s so powerful for me to be able to say these things on television,” Tohn told The Hollywood Reporter in a postmortem interview. “It’s so meta for me and it really meant a lot to me.”

Also explored more in the second season was Joanne’s sister, Morgan’s (Justine Lupe) friendship with Noah’s brother and Esther’s husband, Sasha (Timothy Simons). In the season finale, Esther told Sasha she wanted time a part so she could figure her feelings. This left viewers wondering if Morgan and Sasha would potentially date if the show continued.

Lupe shared her own opinion to the discourse, telling THR, “It could, down the line, evolve into something else,” before noting, “right now, they’re just being really good friends to each other.”

Also, in season two, guest stars included Leighton Meester (Gossip Girl star and Brody’s real-life wife), Emmy winner Seth Rogen, who also played a rabbi, Arian Moayed (Succession), Miles Fowler (Bottoms), Alex Karpovsky (Girls) and Kate Berlant (Don’t Worry Darling).

No date for Nobody Wants This season three has been set yet.
